Tony Fiegen

Tony Fiegen is one of the most decorated basketball athletes to come out of Madison High School. As a 2-year starter, and 3-year letter winner, Tony was an important member of Bulldog teams that went to 3 straight state tournaments (3rd Place in 2007 and 2nd Place in 2008) and helped lead the Bulldogs to the 2009 State “A” Championship – Madison’s first basketball championship since 1945. In his junior year, Tony broke the single season scoring record by scoring 485 points (18.7 ppg) over the 26-game season. That season he also set MHS single season records for FG Made (186), FG Attempted (346), FG Percentage (67%) and Defensive Rebounds (188). When it was all said and done, Tony was top 5 in the MHS Record Book in 16 statistical categories. In addition to gaudy stats, Tony finished his basketball career with many other accolades. He was a two-time 1st Team All-State Selection (2008 & 2009), 2 Time All-Conference Selection, a 2 Time All-Tournament Team Selection, and a 2-Time Team MVP. Following his senior basketball campaign in 2009, Tony was selected as the Argus Leader Co-Player of the Year and was an Argus Leader “First Five” Selection. He also became the first basketball player from Madison High School to be named the South Dakota Gatorade Player of the Year and South Dakota Mr. Basketball. In addition to basketball, Tony was a member of the golf team where he was a 4-time letter winner, 3-time state qualifier, and 2-time medal winner. Tony went on to play basketball at South Dakota State University in Brookings where he was a 3-year starter and helped lead the Jackrabbits to their first ever birth in the NCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball Tournament in 2012.
