1993 Boys Track & Field

The start of the ‘3-PEAT’ happened on May 29, 1993! Under the guidance of newly inducted Hall of Famer, Head Coach Jerome Garry, and assistant coaches Jim Cordts, John Colligon, Carol Shaver, Maxine (Piearson) Unterbrunner, and Mike Mason defeating runner-up Spearfish by 22 points for the title in ’93 (did I mention that Jim, John, and Carol are all in the Hall of Fame as well)! The team consisting of 16 young men, five of which are members of the Madison Hall of Fame, had a great mixture of field events, sprinters, and distance runners, making them very hard to beat. Members of the team were Josh Anderson, Adam & Eric Cummins, Kester & Lucas Dahl, Adam & Seth Ericsson, Carlos Gonzales, Heith Janke, Jared Jankord, Kurt Merager, Telly Mikel, Matt Moore, Daren Olson, David Sample, & Aric Stien! This team took home a total of 26 medals, 6 individual and 20 relay medals, including two individual titles and 2 relay titles from the State Meet, and that my friends is how you start a ‘3-PEAT’!
