WOW, what a run this group of young men had! Yes, this was during the time when SDHSAA changed to a 3-Class System for golf, but the competition this group played was arguably the toughest in the State. This group won three titles (2001, 2003, & 2004) and was runner-up in 2002. During this four year run, they shot under 300 – 5 times, and under 310 too many times to count and in 2004 they shot a 288 at Brandon. SF O’Gorman and their team won multiple State Titles along with National Recognition, and in 2003 and 2004, we defeated them more often than not. In 2004, all five golfers were in the top 14 at State, and in 2003 they were 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 15th! The 6th through 8th golfers were all good enough to place at a State tournament, they just couldn’t crack this line-up! The top 8 golfers on this team were; James Green, Robert Erikson, Chris Brozik, Brian Byrd, Gavin Fawbush, Chris Piehl, Nathan Thill, and Nick Parsley and the Head Coach was Bud Postma and the Assistant Coaches for these teams were Jordan Goeman and Paul Green.
