1989 Girls Golf

Wow, these young ladies could play the game of golf! Yes, this was during the time when SDHSAA had a 2-Class System for golf, with the largest 40 teams +/- in the ‘A’ class. This group of young ladies were not only competitive in every event they played in, they won every event they played in, while tying in one dual. MHS had just left the ESD a few years earlier and were now in the Big 8, however most of their competition was still against the ESD, Rapid City, and Sioux Falls schools. In 1988 this team placed 5th at State and in 1989 they were the Class ‘A’ State Runners-up, no small feat against that competition. This group also went on to win 4 consecutive Big 8 Conference Championships and back to back Region IIIA Championships. The five varsity golfers on this team were; Tracy ‘Gienapp’ Crum, Sr., Susan ‘Peterson’ Embrock, Sr., Ann Marie ‘Keffler’ Stukel, Sr., Stacy ‘Appelwick’ Mosora, Jr., and Jenny ‘Gross’ Maxwell, So., and the Head Coach was Joyce Farrell.
