Jakarta Intercultural School believes technology is an essential feature of a contemporary learning environment. Students who use technology with integrity, respect and responsibility can create, collaborate and communicate, enriching the learning experience for the entire JIS community.
This agreement covers school-owned and personal digital tools used on the JIS campus, and use of JIS-owned equipment off campus. Users also may be held accountable for off-campus violations of the Technology User Agreement that negatively impact the school community.
JIS reserves the right to access any information stored or transmitted over the network. JIS will view or scan content on JIS systems or transmitted over the JIS network periodically to audit use.
KIND: Only post or reshare such content (videos, images, documents, etc) when there is a reasonable assumption that the content owner or subjects would approve.
SMART: Make wise choices about when you are photographed or recorded. Once anything is posted online you no longer have control of it.
RESPECTFUL: Be a respectful digital citizen (no bullying, offensive language, violence, pornography, racism, etc); create a positive footprint online.
SAFE: Protect your identity and that of others online; do not share personal or confidential information that could jeopardize others’ safety.
RESPONSIBLE: Only use accounts, devices, applications and settings for which you have been given permission, and keep your accounts secure.
POSITIVE: Contribute to a positive learning environment, and prevent your use of digital tools from distracting self and others (all social networking sites such as FB, Tumblr, Twitter, Skype, etc need to be closed unless directed by your teacher).
APPROPRIATE: Represent JIS appropriately online; be responsible for material associated with your JIS account.
CONSIDERATE: Use our shared bandwidth responsibly (minimize use of the Internet and JIS network for non-school-related activities especially during the school day). Remember the Gaming Free Zones: Libraries, Wantilan and Vive Cafe.
THOUGHTFUL: Minimize printing and photocopying.
LEGIT: Install legal and school-appropriate materials (no cracked software, pirated music or movies, no inappropriate content) on school-owned devices.
The JIS High School Community will respect all copyright rights including the rights of owners of third-party material used in teaching, in accordance with Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 28 of 2014 on Copyrights and its implementing regulations
JIS HS Community will comply with the Copyright Laws for its educational and library use of all print and digital materials.
To the extent it is legally required, JIS HS Community will purchase appropriate copyright licenses and enough materials to ensure compliance with the terms of such licenses, the Copyright Laws, and the Berne Convention.
While acknowledging that JIS HS Faculty cannot control all actions of its students, the school has committed to educating students on copyright use, including referencing, approved copying, and proper use of print and digital materials.
JIS HS Faculty will set up copyright procedures within the school to facilitate compliance with this policy, including training and education of faculty, staff, and students.
In the JIS High School, we see the use of artificial intelligence tools as part of the real-world learning environment and aligned with our aim to be a pioneering learning community. Unless explicitly stated, the use of artificial intelligence is allowed and may be encouraged in the following circumstances: when used to brainstorm, to simplify a complex text, set of ideas or data, or as part of a wider range of sources. As with any source, all facts should be checked, and verified and all content proofread before submission. All content quoted directly or paraphrased from an artificial source/generator must be cited as such (as with any other source). Teachers should be explicit if its use is to be restricted on a particular assignment or assessment and this must be consistent across a course.

● restore a JIS-owned digital device to its original configuration in order to solve
technical problems. This restore process is a last resort and the user will be
notified before the process is performed.
Therefore, all High School students are expected to ;

use our shared bandwidth responsibly (minimize use of the Internet and JIS network for non-school-related activities especially during the school day)
minimize printing and photocopying
come to school every day with a fully charged laptop battery
B. Protect Property
Protect your JIS accounts, files and resources and prevent others from gaining access; do not share passwords or lend your machine to anyone else
Keep all digital devices secure; report lost or stolen devices immediately to the
High School Office
Protect digital devices to prevent accidental damage (travel with lids closed and use water resistant case, do not use laptops in situations where there is high risk of damage, e.g. gym); damaged equipment will be subject to the repair policy - all school computers must have a hard case. SLA teachers will check that all students in their SLA class have a hard case. If a student does not, notice is given to the VP-Student Affairs who contacts parents. After one week if the student does not have a hard case they are required to purchase one from the IT Help Desk and the cost of the hard case is billed to the parents.
Keep all identifying marks and tags on JIS devices visible and intact, and keep
them in their original condition
Seek immediate repair for damaged or broken hardware, software, files
Report any known or suspected digital security breaches to the High School Office.
Make every effort to keep school resources free from viruses, malware, or spyware
Back up data weekly
C. Use Digital Tools* Conscientiously
Be a responsible and respectful digital citizen (no bullying, offensive language, violence, racism, digitally manipulating images or videos to depict others without explicit consent, pornography—including creation or distribution of AI-generated (ie. deepfakes) or other synthetic sexual content, etc.).
Contribute to a positive learning environment, and prevent your use of digital
tools from distracting self and others (all social networking sites such as FB,
Tumblr, Twitter, etc. need to be closed unless directed by your teacher)
Respect the Gaming Free Zones (Libraries, Wantilan and Vive Cafe)
Be aware of the digital footprint you are leaving online
Aim for a healthy balance between online and offline activities
Establish appropriate separation between personal and school-related digital
activity
Send mass emails to all JIS faculty, students and/or parents only through Communications Office, pending their approval
Use discretion when re-posting or forwarding private JIS email without author’s/subject’s consent
D. Respect Legal and Ethical Boundaries
Only use accounts, devices, applications and settings for which you have been given permission to do so.
Only install legal materials (e.g. no cracked software, pirated music or movies,
no inappropriate content) on school-owned devices.
Represent JIS appropriately online and be responsible for all material associated with your JIS account.
Protect your identity and that of others online; do not share personal or confidential information or images that could jeopardize the others’ safety.
Use resources other than those available at JIS for any commercial activities
not associated with the school.
Obtain permission from a teacher or administrator before publicly posting or forwarding JIS-related content that contains communication/images of others.
