Every student withdrawing from school is required to complete the Student Withdrawal Form and the Transcript Request Form, which are available in the counseling office. All lost or damaged textbooks, library books, locks or other school equipment must be paid for in the business office. Any other materials must be returned to school, and all fees paid. A release form from the library, the Counseling Office and the Business Office must be completed before the student is considered officially withdrawn. The school will not release any transcript or other records to any school, institution or firm until the withdrawal process is complete.
Early Withdrawal: With Credit
Students wishing to earn semester credit in any course must complete all requirements, including final exams as scheduled and attending school through to the final day. Check the yearly calendar to determine these dates. No early exams will be given. In cases of emergency, where these requirements cannot be met, parents must meet the Vice Principal for Curriculum and Learning at least two weeks in advance to explain. Please do not request early withdrawal unless a bona fide emergency exists, such as serious illness documented by medical report or visa cancellation confirmed by the appropriate agency. These policies are deliberately strict due to the disruptive nature of early withdrawal.
If a student leaves before final exams, the following options apply:
1) Possible reduction to the final grade due to lack of assessment evidence or
2) The student may withdraw with no credit and the grade achieved as of the withdrawal date, leaving the decision regarding how to use that grade up to the next school. No final transcript or report card will be issued until the end of the semester.
Early Withdrawal: Without Credit
A student who leaves school permanently prior to the closing of school will receive a grade and attendance statement based on the amount of work completed. No credit will be assigned. If the student enrolls in another school, he/she may request credit evaluation based on that school’s policy. The Counseling Office must be notified in writing two weeks in advance in order to prepare student records. A conference with the Vice Principal for Curriculum and Learning is not required. A transcript will be sent on request, showing all completed semester grades and credit.
