Purpose: The Policy Forum is an annual event designed to encourage our collaborative community to reflect on our school policies. Any teacher or student is invited to submit a policy change suggestion and present it for clarifying questions and feedback. We believe that all policies should evolve in response to the needs and insights of our community, fostering a more inclusive, thoughtful, and responsive learning environment. This structure helps to put our beliefs and values into practice.
Process:
Submit proposal(s) to the form by March 21, 2025.
The administration will review proposals, and those chosen for the Policy Forum will be organized into a Policy Proposal Document. This document will be open for faculty and students to add suggestions and comments to proposals for the benefit of the presenter. The document will close on April 7, 2025 at 3:30pm.
Those who were selected will be given the option to present their policy change, send a recording, or have a representative present it for them.
The Policy Forum will be held as an opportunity for a short presentation and Q&A on April 9, 2025 after school. This is a time for attendees to provide feedback and ask clarifying questions regarding the proposed policy changes. While there will not be any decisions made at that meeting, it is a great time for presenters to clarify their thoughts to our stakeholders and to gain broader perspectives.
The Policy Forum is divided into 2 sections:
Faculty and Students (3:15pm - 4:50pm)
Faculty Only (4:50pm - 5:10pm)
Presenters will get 10 minutes for their policy to be discussed:
2 min: Brief explanation of the proposal
8 min: Taking questions/comments
Based on input on the proposal document and at the Policy Forum, the proposals will be discussed and decided on by the administration (ie. approve policy suggestion as submitted, approve modified version, send back for more information gathering and/or revising, decline).
