The Powerschool Gradebook is available online and is visible to teachers, students and parents. All summative assessments are recorded here, along with major formative assessments. Feedback can take the form of grades as well as written comments/feedback.
The Final Grade indicated in the gradebook is often a “moving target” since it is essentially a grade in progress: it will vary through the semester as more recent assessments are added to the evidence and weightings change. Some assessments previously summative may become un-graded. The “final” grade can be a distraction for students and for this reason the final grade column may show “NG” (no grade) through most of the semester. It will still be possible to see any feedback and grades on individual assessments by clicking the final grade.
At the end of the semester, the teacher determines a final grade based on the most recent and consistent assessment evidence in the gradebook for each learning goal. In general averages across the whole semester are a poor representation of student performance, so averages are avoided.
Gradebook sends automatic progress updates. Parents can customize to suit your preferences and instructions how to do this are below. If you are unsure about what any of the messages mean, please do contact your child's teacher.
