📚WORLD BOOK DAY
We cosied up in our jammies, brought in our favourite stories from home and picked our favourites at nursery! We shared the stories with each other, told our friends why we liked them and what our books were about.
STEM week at Holm elc & primary schoolÂ
Mrs Mackay and some 'professers' from p7 came to show us some science experiments...... first one was Vitamin C rockets...!!! You put an effervescent vitamin tablet and a small amount of water in a canister, a wee shake and place it upside down..... and the carbon dioxide bubbles build up, making it explode open with a big 'POP'- we got to have a go too!
Then it was time for 'chemical reaction' Volcanoes! ...........
The professors added bicarbonate of soda, washing up liquid, food colouring and vinegar to the bottle..... causing a reaction of lava erupting!!
Moving on to digital learning.....Â
Aria, Preston and Jamie came to show us how to use the 'sphere' robots which are controlled via the chrome books! The nursery children were amazed by these and described there being an 'invisible line' connecting the two. We also had lots of fun operating the code-a-pillars and the bee-bots, making them manoeuvre around obstacles.
Socks on!!
Socks off.......hold your noses!!!!
to categorise our socks we had to say what colour they were and make circle for them to go in......."my sock is brown", so we had to draw a brown cirlce
superhero circle for the spiderman sock
look at all the different socks we have so far.
another circle for a football sock.
we don't need another circle for this spiderman sock as we already have one for superheros.
that's quite a move smelling your own foot!!!!
another circle for a blue sock, and someone also described their sock as "camouflage"
Stem week continued with a visit from the fire and rescue services.
They told us all about how the engines work, what appliances they have and we even got a turn of using the hose!!
