SAFE, HAPPY, LEARNING, RESPECTFUL
Last week of P3 Fun!
You have all been stars, I have had a fantastic year with you all in P3. I wish you all good luck in P4, keep working hard and doing your best.
Mrs Nicholson
Today we released our butterflies, they were a bit shy to leave us at first but off they went to spend some time in the Honey Bear garden.
We had the chance to try indoor curling, it was great fun! We also heard from Ewen MacDonald who was an Olympic Gold medal winner with the GB Curling team.
Scotland Day Fun!
Welcome to our butterflies!
Sports Day Part 3
Sports Day Part 2
Sports Day Part 1
Congratulations to Maria and her winning design entry (chosen by John) for the flags outside our school.
We started to learn about capacity today. This means the amount that something can hold. We usually measure capacity (volume) in millilitres (ml) or litres (l). Today we went outside and we had to estimate how much an object would hold before we measured using different sizes of cups, spoons and containers.
This was our last day learning about Length. Today we were using a measuring tape to measure each other, estimate the length of an object outside and then we measured it.
This morning we had a cricket session with Alex from Cricket Scotland. We were learning how to bat and field. We had lots of fun!
House Challenge Fun!
We had great fun during the House Challenge today! We all got a bit wet but there was lots of big smiles and encouraging shout outs. The Pupil Council and teachers will need to eat some more spinach for the next The Tug of War - defeated both times! Well done to the Pupil Council for organising such a fun challenge.
In Maths this week we have been learning about Length. We have been estimating the length of objects in the class and then we have been accurately measuring the length of these with a ruler or a tape measure.
We managed to get outside today for PE after all that non-stop rain! We were practising our hurdle technique. We can now all get over them at speed without interrupting our stride.
Have a look at some fabulous art work by P3. After looking at the butterfly life cycle last week, we drew some symmetrical butterflies.
Some pictures of happy faces from this week's Get Going Get Busy first thing in the morning. Well done to everyone for a great week in P3!
This was our last session of Kodaly. These sessions have been great fun and we have learnt lots of new rhymes. Today the focus was on rhythm patterns. Our favourite songs today were 'Engine Engine' and 'Mrs White'.
Sports Day practice before the rain came!
We have been learning about the butterfly life cycle. We have some caterpillars in our classroom. We will be posting weekly updates so that you can watch the process with us too.
Have a look at our fantastic Minecraft Selfies. We drew these by using a grid template and used our maths skills to create a symmetrical portrait made totally out of small squares. It was a bit tricky to use a ruler to draw the straight lines! Well done to everyone, Minecraft Selfies are fab!
This was our last session of orienteering today; we have had great fun each week. We have become expert map readers too and we know the playground inside out. It was tricky today because we had to find letters on the flags and unscramble these to reveal the Disney character!
What a busy week we had in P3! In Maths we have been learning about 2d shapes. We have a few tricks up our sleeves to help us remember the names of the tricky shapes with lots of sides. Can you share the tricks we have with a grownup at home? We made some shape art too, have a look at the pictures they are fab! Our theme for Get Going Get Busy this week was VE Day, we made some paper Spitfires and then had a go trying to fly them outdoors.
This term we have enjoyed Kodaly online. These sessions are made up of games, repetition and pattern activities. This week we were focusing on beat and rhythm. Our favourite game was ‘Simon Says’, it’s a clapping game.
Finally, we got a nice day for PE outside! Have a look at our action shots! We are focusing on improving our sprinting technique. We also had the hurdles out today, some of them are tricky as they are quite high! We had great fun and even Mrs Nicholson joined in with the relay race!
We have been taking part in some Orienteering. We have been learning how to hold a map correctly. How to identify features on the map. Then we had fun going around the school grounds finding the flags.
Week Beginning 26th April - We have been busy this week. Have a look at some of the activities we have been doing this week.
Improving our football skills.
