SAFE, HAPPY, LEARNING, RESPECTFUL
Last week we had our second visit from Mrs Kish, a geography teacher from Inverness Royal Academy. We continued developing our map reading skills and used a map of Dundee city centre to complete some activities.
We learned how to use four digit grid references by going along the corridor and up the stairs.
We were able to answer quiz questions about various grid references, symbols and landmarks. We then created questions of our own to challenge our classmates.
Mrs Kish will be returning to visit us again in the New Year for more geography related transition activities!
In PE, we have been developing our fitness through a range of different activities. We have been learning about how our heart rate is affected by exercise and learned to measure our carotid and radial pulse.
We have tracked our progress by recording our circuit results and self/peer assessed our fitness scores in order to create personal targets.
Have a look at some of our pictures to see us in action!
This week we were lucky enough to visit the UHI for a Robotics and Mathematics workshop at the Newton Rooms. It was a fantastic workshop and we have since completed some post work to sum up and evaluate our learning.
We were delighted to have been on a trip for the first time in what feels like forever! P7S represented the school extremely well, upholding the school values and making Holm Primary proud.
Thank you to our amazing parent helpers as without you we would not have been able to go, nor would we have had as much fun and support during our trip.
Be sure to ask us all about finding the circumference of a circle, perimeter of a shape, accuracy and programming robots as we learned lots and had great fun!
We have had a very positive start to term two!
The pupils are already excited to be debating in literacy, extending their knowledge of addition strategies in maths and creating beautiful chalk pastel planets in art. Please click on our termly overview for important diary dates and to see what we are going to be learning about this term.
Next week P7S will welcome Miss Allison, a student teacher from the University of Aberdeen. We hope to show her how safe, happy and respectful we are here at Holm and can't wait to enjoy learning with her!
