SAFE, HAPPY, LEARNING, RESPECTFUL
Goodbye to our Primary 1 superstars!
Thanks for all your fun, laughter, smiles and learning this year!
Thanks to our families for your support.
Have a super summer holidays everybody!
A whole day of learning outdoors! We think our P1's will be sleeping well tonight!
Sport's Day snippets! Look at our little athletes, I think we have some future Olympians in the making! Such a fun morning trying out so many activities and races - shot put, target golf, caber tossing, welly throwing, javelin, long jump, obstacle races are just a few! More photos will hopefully be shared soon from our official P7 photographers!
Wonderful woods sessions this afternoon too! Our story of the week "The Gruffalo" is set in the woods. So we took it into the woods! We enjoyed the story gathered under a huge tree complete with Makaton! Then the children had free choice of what Gruffalo activities to do with their partner. As always, I was so impressed with their team work and creativity skills! We had owls up trees, foxes and mice hiding, mouse holes dug, woodland sets created, logpile houses and snakes made and lots of Gruffalos appearing from natural materials! What amazing explorers we have!
Another wonderful week in P1 today. Creativity and teamwork at its finest! Go-karts, boats, obstacle courses, spinning, swinging and volcanoes all in one day! We had such a fun day today for our dress down, house challenges and 21 for 21 dance fun! Look at all those smiley faces!
Thursday thinking in the woods! We had to work with a partner and look after our peg dolls for the whole afternoon and build them a shelter. Before going to the woods we had amazing discussions we had about what shelters are, why we have them and does everyone have a shelter? Look at the amazing structures we have build - mud cement, stick walls, leave roofs, moss beds, arch doorways, we could have worked on these for so much longer if only we had more time!
Some more snapshots of our learning in P1 this week. Intricate model making, symmetrical butterflies, terrific team work, outdoor learning and so much literacy and numeracy built into our play. What a week!
P1 superstars making good choices and working so hard to improve their literacy and numeracy.
Well Done!
A wee snippet of our learning from the last two weeks. We are often so caught up in the moments of our learning we forget all about taking photos!
On our woods trips we have had flower microphones, sensory scavenger hunts and natural art galleries. we have been so impressed with the children's creativity on our woodland sessions.
In class we have been:
working hard on recording and rapid recall of basic facts
using our phonic skills to help us read new books
carefully forming our letters
writing words and sentences
using our imaginations in play - we have seen busses and underground pipe networks this week!
learning about minibeasts
Use these photos to discuss our learning with us.
Please take the time to fill in our Primary one anonymous questionnaire above. Thank you.
Fabulous Friday in the forest! What an adventure we had! Our P1's loved having time to explore around our gathering area in the forest today. They were so good at keeping safe and staying where the adults could see them. There was lots of great risky play going through the sticky mud, climbing trees, getting up and down hills and exploring how to get in and out of small spaces. The imaginations of this brilliant bunch really come to life outdoors. We had trees that were boats, secret dens, broomsticks, stick smiles, campfires, leaf hearts and so much more! They all found 1 thing they liked to take home from the forest today. I loved seeing them all walking back using their woodland treasures as planes, walking sticks and pogo sticks. Have a great weekend P1.

These responsible P1's chose to make our playground a better place by picking up litter without being asked.
We had a wonderful walk to the woods yesterday! Thanks to our parent helpers. We prepared for the trip by doing a risk assessment with the children. They were all so safe on our trip. They were amazed by the tall trees and are keen to go and explore more next week. They have lots of super ideas for activities to do in the woods.

Great week n P1. More marvelous maths, super sounds, fabulous reading, Scottish dancing, creative models and amazing co-operation! We had a lovely afternoon decorating our classroom for Christmas. We worked so well together to build the tree, decide where to put the decorations , check and put up the lights and some of us loved dancing and skipping with the tinsel!
