golf jumping hurdles
In the afternoon we ran a flat, pancake and obstacle race. We are very proud of all the stickers we won for running so well. Well done everyone.
Platinum Jubilee Celebrations
Today we had lots of fun celebrating the Queen's Jubilee. We came dressed up, wrote invitations, designed jubilee cakes, played games and finished with a party and dancing.
Baillie Cup Sports
The Holm Team did so well at the Baillie Cup sports and were placed second in their group. You were all AMAZING and so supportive of each other.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
After discussing the book we made our own butterflies. Each day we are observing our caterpillars and hoping that they will turn into beautiful butterflies too.
Developing The Young Workforce - Kier Construction
Today we had a visit from Kier Construction who are building the new Ness Castle School.
They played a game to help us learn about all the different jobs people do when building a new school. Do you know what an electrician, architect and Personal Assistant do?
We then thought about all the different skills needed to work in construction. Look at the list we came up with:
designing listening teamwork communicating learning problem solving organising technology planning thinking talking concentrating measuring brick laying plastering health and safety .......
Can you think of other skills?
What construction job would you like to do when you are older?
Aigas Field Centre
We went on a class trip to Aigas Field Centre to investigate mini-beasts. On arrival we looked at the taxidermy animals on display in the Magnus House.
Then we explored Aigas Loch to find and identify mini-beasts living in the water. After we ran around the forest to find stones painted as animals.
Next we made a circle on the ground and built a map of the forest using natural resources including branches, bark, cones and moss. Lachlan B found a stick that a woodpecker had used.
Finally we had great fun working in teams to build shelters to protect ourselves. Who do you think is hiding in his shelter?
Well done P2 and parent helpers. You all built AMAZING, creative shelters.
Highland Hospice
Today we were raising money for Highland Hospice. We began the day by wearing yellow and dancing. Callum was awarded a Siver Card for his amazing moves.
Mini-beasts
We went into the Sensory Garden on a mini-beast hunt. We looked in the air, on plants, on the ground, under stones and dug underground. Mini-beast detectives found and identified a spider, a woodlouse, a centipede, an ant, a beetle, a snail and many worms. Lucy had a bee snoozing on her arm and Lewis found a spider crawling up towards a branch on its silk line.
We have started to build a mini-best hotel outside our classroom. We hope lots of mini-beasts will come for a visit so we can get to know them.
