Measure
Maths - weight
This week in weight we have been estimating, measuring and comparing different quantities.
We have used non-standard units (cubes) and standard units (kilograms) to compare and order from lightest to heaviest.
Using scales, we found that 1 kilogram = 1,000 grams and half of a kilogram is 500 grams.
Can you find five things that weigh 1 kilogram?
Can you make up some comparison questions? Which is heavier, an elephant or 500grams?
Feel the weight of food packages. Estimate the weight of the package then check how near your estimate was to the actual weight.
Could you help to weigh ingredients to make your favourite meal?
As part of their topic 'Healthy Body, Healthy Mind' P3/2 have talked about how to keep a healthy mind by:
-talking with parents, family and friends so they know how you are doing
- expressing feelings
- using kind words/kind actions to others
-getting in touch with nature by going for a walk, cycling ......
-doing a hobby - reading, building models, drawing ......... to relax
How do you keep your mind healthy?
We also talked about positive affirmation statements.
I am:
artistic
caring
fantastic
good
happy
loved
Can you think of a positive affirmation for every letter of the alphabet?

It has been really nice for us all to be back together after the Easter holidays. We have had a busy week and finished off today by thinking about what makes a good friend.
We started off by reading a story about a 'not so friendly starfish.'
After that we had a chat about how Stan behaved in the story and if we would want to be like that with our friends. We decided that words like boastful, rude , unkind and selfish were not good words to describe what we wanted in a friend.
Luckily Stan saved the day with the help of his kind, helpful, caring friends.
