SAFE, HAPPY, LEARNING, RESPECTFUL
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you very much for your continued help and support during our first term of Primary 7.
These past few school years have been like no other but sticking together to ensure we are ‘Happy, Safe, Learning and Respectful’ have helped to make it that bit easier - even in the tough times!
We have had a great first term filled with both exciting learning opportunities and new responsibilities. We look forward to the remainder of the year and all the adventures that lie ahead!
Have a lovely restful October holiday, take care and stay safe.
P7S created their own pieces of Cherry Blossom artwork using watercolour and acrylic paint. The pupils were working on showing their understanding of different implements to produce specific effects for example using brushes and cotton buds. They were also learning to understand the properties of different types of paint and how to use these effectively.
To go along with these on our wall display, P7S wrote super Japanese Haiku poems using cherry blossom as their inspiration. Be sure to ask them the rules for writing a Haiku!
Well done P7S, along with the help of Eden and Owen we managed to cycle the furthest during the Sponsored Cycle! The P3-7 pupils who took part cycled a staggering 282.84 km in total.
A huge thank you to P5/6 and Mrs Mackenzie for organising such a brilliant event – it is safe to say we all enjoyed it.
Even the P7’s who did not take part took on a role of marshalling, encouraging, lap counting and time keeping. Thank you so much to everyone who participated and collected sponsor money.
Our amazing P7 helpers were a credit to their year group – showing great organisational skills, manners and dedication to their role. We are incredibly proud of you and want to say another big thank you for setting high standards and following the school values so well.
This week in P7, both classes have been doing some atlas work to learn more about cities and regions of Japan.
We have also looked at the continent of Asia which Japan is part of in order to learn more about the neighboring countries and compare their populations.
We have been learning to use grid codes and compass points to describe locations on a map.
We have also enjoyed learning about the similarities and differences between each region's landscapes and comparing to this to Scotland.
Up until Wednesday evening we were confidently defeating P7G in our Rockstar homework battle but... they caught up with us! Congratulations P7G - the competition is ON for next time!
P7S reflected on their success today sharing their delight in improved accuracy with their tables but many have set their sights on increased speed.
We are working on speed and accuracy within our tables and those of us who have mastered them are developing problem solving skills involving the four operations.
This photo shows our hard work and concentration when we had a trial battle in class. All that could be heard was the excited tapping on our keypads!
Across our first two weeks, we were very busy setting routines, going over the school rules, building relationships and creating jobs and a class charter. We decided on everything together as a class in order to promote and encourage teamwork. We believe this will help us to achieve our best!
P7S have been working hard to complete assessments with a Growth Mindset. They have used this to support them with their additional responsibilities in the school.
So far, we have been helping the adults outside at break and lunch with playground duties, buddying our new P1 children and even presenting at assembly.
Everyone has settled so well into P7S, we cannot believe that it is the end of week 4 already! It has been a pleasure to get to know everyone and welcome our new pupils. As a new member of staff, I have felt very privileged to join such a supportive and welcoming school with children showing exceptional manners.
