P6/7 enjoyed a fun filled Sports Day yesterday. They took part in:
Obstacle Race
Bat and Ball
Sack Race
Sprint
P6/7 have been enjoying health week with a range of activities. We've enjoyed some football, athletics, skipping, dancing, netall and made some tasty fruit skewers!
P7 enjoyed a super trip to Loch Insh last week. They took part in orienteering, raft building, canoeing and paddle boarding! The trip was finished off with the Jungle Float, jumping off into Loch Insh!
P6/7 have been very busy in maths this week learning all about the link between fractions, decimals and percentages. They have been converting percentages into decimals and fractions and vice versa.
They also took some time in mental maths to play quick march, helping them to focus on their target table!
P6/7 have begun their latest Talk for Writing model text - Swamp Monsters! This week they got arty, creating a story map to help them learn the story.
Last week we were lucky enough to have the BUD Poppy Bus visiting school. We got to go on and learn all about the work Poppy Scotland does for Veterans of war, why the poppy is a symbol and make our own poppy. It was really interesting!

Over the last 3 weeks, P6 have been enjoying Rugby taster sessions with Highland Rugby Club. They will also be taking part in a Rugby Festival this Friday coming with lots of other Inverness schools. Thanks Highland Rugby Club!
This week is STEM week in school and P6/7 have been enjoying a range of activities.
African Drumming - We learnt all about vibrations and how drums can be used as forms of communication.
Egg Drop - Our P7 STEM Leaders set us a tricky Egg Drop Challenge! Using a range of materials we had to create a protective layer for our egg and then attach it to a parachute. We then dropped the egg from a set height to learn how well our protection worked! 3 of our eggs SURVIVED..... the rest were scrambled!
Eden Court Animation - We got to make our own stop motion animations during a fantastic workshop from Eden Court.
We have also enjoyed Mini First Aid and the P7s have had a visit from 3 IRA Science Teachers in preparation for their move to high school.
Over the last number of weeks, we have been learning about Electricity as part of our STEM learning. We have been enjoyed creating some electrical circuits and even got a chance to share our learning with our Little P1/2 Buddies.
Today, some of our class members wore their Guide uniforms to celebrate World Thinking Day which is tomorrow, February 22nd.
Girl Guides and Girl Scouts have been marking this special day since 1926. World Thinking Day is a celebration of 10 million girls worldwide that has taken place on every 22 February since 1926.
Over the last number of weeks we have been working on our ball skills in basketball.
This week we played some mini games, working hard in our team to ensure we communicated , included everyone and supported each other.

Since returning in the new year, P6/7 have begun learning all about the 7 Ancient and Modern Wonders of the World. As part of their learning, they have created some super artwork of The Pyramids of Giza, Great Wall of China and Taj Mahal.
This week, we looked at some of the tricky words from our model text. We looked up the words in the dictionary to find the definition and talked about why the author used the word. Some of our tricky words were:
smothered
rippled
perched
quivering
warily
The past two weeks in maths we have been doing some data handling, specifically line graphs. We have been working really hard to ensure we picked the right scale, had labels for our axis, titled our line graph and made a key.

P6 and P7 had a super time at their parties! They played a host of party games and danced some traditional Scottish dances including the Gay Gordon's and Virginia Reel.
This Festive Season we enjoyed the Christmas Show in school - Christmas Through the Decades and went Christmas Carolling to raise funds for School!
This week we have been learning our model text by creating a story map. This means we use pictures to explain the story. This then helps us to remember each paragraph in good detail!
This term, P6/7 have been enjoying art lessons.
For Halloween we used the style of Pablo Picasso to create Frankenstein monsters and then made some lovely poppy art for Remembrance Day.
