SAFE, HAPPY, LEARNING, RESPECTFUL
Welcome to our Primary 1 /2 A class blog. Here we will share snippets of what we have learning about in class. The photos shared will give you a small flavour of what we get up to and when looked at with your children are a great way to prompt and support discussion with your child about what they have been doing in class. Any comments or questions, please get in touch in the usual ways.
Term 3
Where has January gone, we have been back in school for 4 weeks already! What a lot we have packed into those weeks!
Literacy
We have been making great effort to correctly forming out letters - starting in the right place and going the correct direction. We have been learning new sounds and blends and are trying to independently read and write words and sentences.
Maths
We have been finding out about measure - so far we have explored length and weight.
We have also been developing our place value skills - can we identify numbers quickly, show how they are made up, count forwards and backwards and spot the missing numbers.
PE
We have been developing our gymnastics skills of travelling, jumping, landing and rolling.
Other
As always, we have so much fun leading our own learning during our continuous play in class. Take a look at the photos!
Reading a story about hairstyles, sparked lots of discussion so we changed our role play area into a hairdressers. We have a very busy salon, with lots of children booking appointments and being very creative with their styles which often cost lots of money!
Term 2
December Dump
Found these photos on the camera from before the holidays of some of our Christmas fun! Seems like a distant memory but wanted to share!
Take a look at what we have been up to the last few weeks. There has been plenty of practise for our Christmas show next week and we have decorated the class for Christmas.
There has been signing, dancing, yoga, ball skills, building, crafting and so much more. Lots of busy fun while we learn as always!
We have been learning new phonics sounds, working on addition and learning about money too.
It has been a busy start to term 2. We have packed in lots of fun learning so far. Take a look!
Halloween creativity and safety - designing our own pumpkins and characters - developing fine motor skills with drawing, colouring, painting , cutting and sticking. We were also learning about how to stay safe in the dark.
Maths 2d and 3d shapes - remembering their names, counting their corners and sides. We have been hunting all around for them they are everywhere! We have been sorting and making with them in our play too.
P1s have been working hard to learn their 1st set of sounds. We have been singing the songs, finding words that begin with the sounds and making things related to these sounds. We painted trees with tea and made p's by potato printing.
P2s have been working hard on blending their sounds and we learned about sh this week too.
In PE we have been working on our ball skills of rolling, throwing and catching - remembering to look for the ball and be ready to catch with our hands.
This week our P6/7 Buddies came to our class to visit. We had fun getting to know each other by playing together.
