General Information for Import of Alcoholic Beverages 

1. Receiving samples and documents 

1.1 Pre-Import: The Importer or his agent is responsible for bringing the samples to the Standards Institution of Israel (SII). 

1.1.1 Sample size: 

* 750 mL or above – Two bottles 

* Between 500 mL and 750 mL – Three bottles. 

* Less than 500 mL - Six bottles or cans. 

1.1.2 Documents: 

* Three original labels (available only for the original/direct importer). 

* Three Hebrew labels. 

* Original documents from the manufacturer approved by the authorities in the country of origin, including: COA (Certificate of Analysis), production process, preservatives and test analysis from the manufacturer (available only for the original/direct importer). 

* All documents should bear the name of the importer. 

* All documents should be in English or French. Other languages should have a notarized translation. 

1.2 Import: The Importer or his agent will send the necessary documents (Bill of Lading, Invoice and a Request for Releasing Imported Goods) to SII. SII representative will sample the shipment, either at the port of entry or in the importer’s warehouse. The Importer or his agent will delivered the samples to the SII Lab. in Tel-Aviv. 

1.2.1 Sample size with Hebrew labels attached: 

* 750 mL or above – Two bottles 

* Between 500 mL and 750 mL – Three bottles. 

* Less than 500 mL - Six bottles or cans. 

2. General Information 

2.1 Working hours at the SII food and wine laboratory: Sunday – Thursday between 7:30 and 15:00 

2.2 The documents should be given to the Head of the Chemistry Laboratory or the to food technologist. 

2.3 Payments should be done upon bringing the samples for analysis. 

2.3.1 Pre-import price: 942.4 sh w/o V.A.T. 

2.3.2 Post-import price: 589.0 sh w/o V.A.T.
