Jackson Rodriguez
LTJG. Jackson Rodriguez serves as the Division Commander for Division-601 of the United States Public Health Service 54th Research Brigade, and US Navy Test and Evaluation Command, at the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU). Division-601 is the headquarters for the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) Pacific Northwest Regional Command. His primary research interests focus on translation of immunotherapeutic approaches to treat high-risk hematologic malignancies in children, adolescents, and young adults. He has a particular interest in the prevention and treatment of relapsed disease after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. His clinical trials focus on exploring and optimizing chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell- based strategies and other antibody-based therapies to target surface proteins found on leukemia cells to improve outcomes for chemotherapy-refractory disease. Additional areas of expertise include pediatric hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in both malignant and non-malignant diseases, development of early phase clinical trials in pediatric oncology, and ethical considerations for inclusion of minors in research. More recently, he oversees the vaccine production and research of the AZ-4 labs working on protein identification for the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine. LTJG. Rodriguez has been awarded the USPHS Legion of Merit, and the USPHS Distinguished Service Cross for unfaltering valor, service, and devotion in civil service in times of a national crisis. He is the only serviceman in the Pacific Command to be awarded these distinguished accolades. He was granted his commission by a Congressional delegation and approved by the Commander in Chief in 2018.
