The David Douglas Educational Foundation (DDEF) has been supporting David Douglas families in need during the Coronavirus pandemic by providing meals, non-consumable essentials, and internet, while also covering family bills and rent.

The foundation was founded in 1991 and has been, “dedicated to supporting educational excellence for all children in the David Douglas School District” ever since, according to the foundation’s website. “The Foundation achieves this vision by acquiring and distributing resources to enhance and supplement district and staff programs and projects.”

Many families all across the world have been in need during the Coronavirus pandemic. The DDEF has been doing its part in the David Douglas School District, though, with over $27,000 being distributed to its school pantries during the pandemic.

The foundation gathers money through donations on its website. Donations can also be mailed in check form to the foundation.

DDEF has nine board members, including one honorary board member, Oregon state representative and former DDHS teacher Jeff Reardon.

Other members include board president, scholarship committee chair, and investment committee member Beverly Fischer, secretary and investment committee member Jo Carney, Suzie Albin, school board member Christine Larsen, Cherie-Anne May, Anne Pickel, grant committee chair Linda Beith, and treasurer, investment committee member, and school board member Frieda Christopher. Christopher is also the founding member of the DDEF.
