If schools are considering reopening, after almost a year of being quarantined, schools' top priority should be to bring the students back safely and cautiously.

Some schools reopened, but not long after had to close again due to cases rising and being reported inside the school building. School officials should be using the time they have beforehand to carefully prepare and decide how to open up, and how to maintain a safe and healthy environment.

Videos of a High School in Georgia quickly made its way around the Internet, exposing the school’s crowded hallways with maskless students. After multiple students and staff were reported positive for the Coronavirus, the school transitioned back to distance learning. Did these school officials ignore safety precautions? There is no such thing as zero risk for students.

Actions can be taken to minimize these outbreaks. For starters, just wearing masks at school all the time can make a big difference. The school should also limit the physical contact between students and staff, limiting how many bodies can be in an area and the hallways at a time.

There is no way that a school system should be running the same with the way things have changed today.
