Senior Jennifer Dinh was chosen the 2021 David Douglas High School Rose Festival Princess.

Dinh is a Highlander editor where her collaborative efforts contributed to a national American Scholastic Press First Place award her junior year. She has been involved in the Red Cross Club, the Key Club, National Honor Society, and College Possible. She’s been a Symphonic Strings violinist since her freshman year, and was a member of the pit orchestra for two musical productions, Thoroughly Modern Millie and Holiday Inn.

Along with playing violin, Dinh enjoys painting and volunteering, including (prior to the pandemic) spending Saturdays at a local hospital as an Escort Transport Volunteer where she discharged patients from their hospital rooms and delivered interdepartmental items. Dinh also volunteered at a local library each Friday as a Weeding Assistant, “weeding” the shelves of damaged books as well as assisting library staff where needed.

Dinh plans to attend a four year university to pursue a career in psychology.

“Now that the world has been slowly and cautiously been reopening, the Rose Festival brings so much hope to the community because of its ability to help people feel happy and included,” Dinh said in the Meet the Candidates video. “The live music, comforting food, beautiful floats, and everything else the Rose Festival has to offer all play major roles in creating memories that will last forever. Now, more than ever, is the time when unity should conquer division, and hope should triumph over despair. Fortunately, the Rose Festival has a place for everyone, regardless of who you are or where you come from.”

Senior Christina Bouwman was the other 2021 DDHS Rose Festival candidate.
