Well respected Belgian Fashion Designer Raf Simons embodies creativity in his new independent womenswear line.

Fashion is nothing new to Raf Simons, having designed collections for various labels such as Prada, Dior, and Jil Sander. Last month, Simons announced his plan to launch his own womenswear collection under his name.

His womenswear collection for the fall season kicked off on Oct. 23, a few weeks after his collaboration with co-director of Prada, Miuccia Prada, was released. Simons sent down 72 looks down the runway, each unique and daring. Some looks consisted of bright greens, others had huge pins. The most memorable looks had “Children of the Revolution” across the chests of sweaters.

I sense you're aiming toward something that should be revolutionary. But the nature of a revolution in fashion is that it comes from someone we don't know. It's partly embraced and partly rejected, but it's so not something that you can push aside. ” -Raf Simons

Although Simons is known for his menswear collections, womenswear is not a foreign topic for the fashion designer. Back in 2005 he was assigned creative director of Jil Sander and released his for women’s ready-to-wear collection in fall 2006. Simons showed the fashion industry his take on couture and was praised for his floral prints and soigné slip dresses. Simons continued to push the womanly aesthetics of the luxury brand. After leaving Jil Sander, Simons was appointed creative director for the French luxury brand, Dior. At Dior Simons worked on accessories and ready-to-wear collections. He sent couture looks down the runway and contributed greatly to the brand as it is known today.

Simons knows what he’s doing in terms of womenswear. Raf Simons collection is out now and can be viewed on various platforms such as Instagram, Youtube, and Vogue Runway app.
