The Scots Center has always been a place for students who need help, and during normal years it gave them a place to work in a classroom setting, and it's still available virtually. As of Feb. 1, the center is available Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-12 p.m, and 12:30-4 p.m. to better assist students after school.

Scots Center coordinator Galen Schmitt has several years of experience, specializing in advanced math and science. He's accepting emails regarding specific questions in all areas of study. For more advanced help, he will assist students in a Google Meet.

"I am the Scots Center coordinator, so I am online or in class (during normal years) all day," said Schmitt. "In typical years, there are also peer tutors and teachers in various periods throughout the day, as well as after school."

The Scots Center is also beneficial in helping with with job applications and searching for colleges and universities.

To utilize the Scots Center, students should email Schmitt with the day and time that works best. When that time comes, Schmitt will send the link to the Google Meet. It's helpful if students provide specific questions in their emails, including the specific class, teacher, and unit of study.

In typical years, the Scots Center offered students access to Chromebooks outside of school hours and access to good calculators for specific math classes, or a specific textbook they couldn't take home. Athletes also took advantage of the Scots Center to improve their grades so they could continue to participate in athletics.
