SROs have been eliminated in light of recent national tensions between Americans and police officers, tensions stemming from the murder of George Floyd.


Amidst the Coronavirus pandemic, the show must go on, so the Performing Arts Department live-streamed the final two shows of their winter production of Kate Hamill’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility on March 13 to a collective audience of 300+ screens.

Before school closed for the year, Portland Trailblazer CJ McCollum joined David Douglas’ Black Student Union members and basketball program on Feb. 24 in celebrating the strength, culture, and history of Black Americans.

Since the pandemic, the number of Portland’s homeless population has increased, along with the number of unwarranted violence and blatant drug deals, especially in Old Town.


Montana schools were the first to reopen after the stay-at-home orders, though the opening will be short-lived due to the end of the school year approaching, and views of the short opening are conflicting between thankfulness and fear.


Throughout Oregon, and the rest of the United States, businesses are struggling during the Coronavirus pandemic following wide-spread stay-at-home orders; while many businesses are only temporarily closed, some may be closed forever.

2020 Graduation

Once upon a time, the graduating class of 2020 was handed a ton of lemons. A pandemic closed the school, and commencement at the Chiles Center was cancelled...

...So, the high school helped make the seniors some lemonade by organizing a two-day, drive-up ceremony, carefully designed to follow social distancing protocols.

Each car and often truck and one limo, most full of supportive family members, was cheered on by high school staff lining the breezeway...

...culminating at the commencement stage with the awarding of diplomas behind the Aquatic Center.
