Video Examples

Length of the activity: 15 minutes

Materials: Computer and projector

Steps:

1. Have the students watch the provided adobe spark video (see below) about being sustainable.

2. With a partner, have the students identify the main topic and points of the video. Next, have them share out and discuss the video as a class.

3. Inform the students that they will all be creating their own video projects. Explain the following instructions to them: They must first choose a topic pertaining to sustainable living (ex. climate change, waste, etc). In their videos, they must provide a brief description of the problem. Then, using things they have learned from class as well as from outside research, they must lay out their plan to make a difference. Also, if applicable, encourage them to draw from their experiences engaging in the sustainability challenges from the "Game on!" activity in the "Living Sustainably" lesson.

4. Put students into small groups and provide class time for them to brainstorm and discuss ideas for their videos. Allow up to 10 minutes.

5. As students come up with their topics, they must come to you and get their ideas approved. Similar topics are acceptable as the students will likely still come up with varying ways to 'make a difference'.

6. Once all the students have their topic and are ready, play the provided tutorial video (see below) of how to use adobe spark.

7. Prompt the students to begin creating their videos!
