Unit Overview
Language Skills and Strategies in Focus: Listening, Pronunciation, and Speaking Skills
Age & Level: Young Adults to Adults; Level C1-C2 (Per CEFR Levels)
Length of Lessons: 90 Minutes
Lesson 1: Impacts of Heating upon the Ocean
The lesson serves as an introduction to the unit. It is focuses on educating students about the impact of climate change on oceans. It involves different activities with the goal to improve listening and comprehension skills, teaching oceanic terms and concepts related to climate change, promoting a global perspective on the impact of climate change on the ocean. Furthermore, the lesson includes a carbon footprint project to engage the students in understanding their individual contribution to the issue.
Lesson 2: Ocean Acidification
This lesson is designed to introduce students to one of the lesser-dicussed elements of carbon dioxide emissions: ocean acidification. In this unit students will learn about this topic as well as practice their speaking abilities.
Lesson 3: Solutions
This lesson is designed to wrap up the topic by focusing on solutions to the climate crisis, both on a global and individual scale. Students in this unit will practice their pronunciation abilities.
