For the Teacher
The refugee flag was inspired from the only passport so many refugees have used throughout their journey: life-vests. The flag is a vivid orange with a single black stripe, reminiscent of movement, pain, fear and hope. See the "The Refugee Nation" website for more information.
Overview of Unit Plan
This unit explores the topic of refugee life while targeting oral skills. Students will learn about the immense challenges that people who are forcibly displaced have to face around the world.
It is designed for students at level CEFR B2 and higher.
The lessons approach the topic with personal glimpses into the lives and experiences of refugees. We hope that such authenticity enables students to truly empathize with the plight of refugees.
