Language Skills and Strategies in Focus: Listening, Pronunciation, and Speaking Skills

Age & Level: Young Adults to Adults; Level A2 - B2 (Per CEFR Levels

Length of Lessons: 90 Minutes

Lesson 1: Ideals vs. Reality

This lesson serves as an introduction to the unit. Students will be introduced to the topic of healthcare as a human right through a video that presents social inequalities in healthcare and small group discussions. This lesson utilizes Choral Reading and Backwards Build-Up Drills. This lesson focuses on pronunciation skills. 

Lesson 2: Healthcare Literacy

This lesson is designed to introduce students to vocabulary related to visiting a doctor's office and discussing basic medical jargon and symptoms. Vocabulary is provided for this lesson as it is used in an activity. However, vocabulary can be curated if need be to be more relevant to students' lives. This lesson focuses on speaking skills. 

Lesson 3: Healthy Lifestyle

This lesson is designed to introduce students to vocabulary related to healthy and unhealthy food as well as development of personal goals. Students will curate the majority of the vocabulary themselves that way the vocabulary curated is relevant to students. This lesson focuses on listening skills.
