Length of Lessons: 90 Minutes
Students will discuss the newest fads in fashion and describe their personal styles. The purpose of this is to get them thinking about fashion and using the vocabulary in a fun and relaxed way. Subsequent activities will focus on the larger impacts of (their) fashion choices.
Students will have the opportunity to discuss clothing origins, brands, and materials and their impact on the economy, planet, and social aspects of shopping habits. They will also analyze and apply concepts from relevant infographics to their habits, appraise the delivery of content creator's perspectives about fast fashion, and paraphrase reasons for and against fast fashion. The purpose of this lesson is to introduce multiple opinions about fast fashion to encourage critical thinking and aid students in developing their own opinions about fast fashion.
This lesson focuses on speaking and pronunciation. During the lesson students work together to analyze, summarize, and share articles that discuss the various impacts of fast fashion. Students are encouraged to use the fashion-related vocabulary they have been learning throughout the unit and further develop their own opinion on fast fashion and conscious consuming.
