***What Does Deuteronomy 18:15 TRULY mean?
Here is Deuteronomy 18:15 from the KJV. “The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken.”
Muslims say that Muhammad is the prophet that Moses prophesied that God would raise up.
But what does the Bible ITSELF teach us?
Christians believe that Jesus is the fulfillment of Deuteronomy 18:15-19.
So then, which book is teaching the TRUTH, the Bible or the Quran?

Book 8 Chapter 5.
Was Jesus the Prophet LIKE Moses?
In part 1 of this study in chapter 4 of Book 8 Is Islam the TRUE Faith, I said that there are SEVEN different points brought forth in the prophecy in Deuteronomy 18:15-19.
And in that Verse Study in part 1, we covered the FIRST point, which is that Almighty God would raise up a PROPHET.
Here again are the SEVEN points.
Point #1.
God promised to raise up a PROPHET.
Point #2.
That Prophet will be LIKE Moses.
Point #3.
God would raise up that Prophet from among the BRETHREN of the children of Israel to whom Moses is speaking face to face in Deuteronomy 18:15, and the SAME BRETHREN to whom Yahweh is speaking ABOUT in Deuteronomy 18:17,19.
Point #4.
That Prophet will speak the words of Yahweh that Yahweh Himself will put into his mouth.
Point #5.
All those who do NOT obey THAT Prophet, who will speak the words of Yahweh in the NAME of Yahweh, then it will be REQUIRED of God on the Day of Judgment.
Point #6.
Any prophet that presumes to speak a word in the name of Yahweh that Yahweh did NOT give him to speak, then those false prophets shall die.
Point #7.
How to KNOW if a prophet is NOT speaking the truth in the name of Yahweh.
And here in part 2 of the study about who is the PROPHET in Deuteronomy 18:15-19, we will cover point #2, a Prophet LIKE Moses.
We will look at what the Bible ITSELF teaches us concerning the SIMILARITIES between Moses and Jesus.
In other words, we will look at Moses as being a FIGURE of Jesus.
Let us begin this Verse Study by reading verse 15.
Deuteronomy 18:15.
“The LORD your God will raise up unto you a Prophet from the midst of you, of your brethren, LIKE unto me; unto him you shall hearken;”
In this study, we will focus on what the Bible ITSELF teaches us about Jesus being LIKE Moses in order to keep each Verse Study as short as possible.
#1. Both Moses and Jesus were prophets of Almighty God. We have already covered all of the verses proving that Jesus is THAT Prophet spoken of by Moses in the Verse Study Deuteronomy 18:18.
#2. Deuteronomy 34:10-12 says that no other prophet in Israel since Moses saw and spoke to Almighty God face to face.
And in John 6:45-47, we see that Jesus saw and spoke to Almighty God face to face.
John 6:45-47.
“It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that has heard, and has learned of the Father, comes unto me.
John 6:46. Not that any man has seen the Father, save he which is of God, he has seen the Father.
John 6:47. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believes on me has everlasting life.”
Now, Muhammad MAY have seen an angel, but for Muhammad to be LIKE Moses, then he would have had to SEE Almighty God Himself.
So, the EVIDENCE is in favor of Jesus being the Prophet that was LIKE Moses.
#3. In Deuteronomy 4:36 and Exodus 20:22, we see that Almighty God spoke to Moses from heaven in an audible voice.
And in John 12:48-50, we learn that God spoke to Jesus telling him what to say.
In other words, Almighty God Himself spoke directly to both Moses and Jesus.
John 12:48-50.
“He that rejects me, and receives not my words, hath one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the SAME shall judge him in the last day.
John 12:49. For I have NOT spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, He gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
John 12:50. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.”
Again, Muhammad MIGHT have heard the voice of an angel, but to be LIKE Moses, he would have had to hear the audible voice of Almighty God Himself.
Another point in favor of Jesus as being the TRUE Prophet spoken of by Moses.
#4. The FIRST Covenant came by Moses, according to John 1:17.
John 1:17.
“For the law was given by Moses, but grace and TRUTH came by Jesus Christ.”
And the NEW Covenant came by Jesus, according to Isaiah 42:1-9. I will just quote verse 6.
Isaiah 42:6.
“I the LORD have called you in righteousness, and will hold your hand, and will keep you, and give YOU for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;”
In other words, God gave Jesus to die on the cross to establish His NEW Covenant in the shed blood of His human Son Jesus, according to Matthew 26:28 and the same account in the other three gospels written in the New Testament.
Matthew 26:28.
“For this is my blood of the NEW Testament, (Or the New Covenant) which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”
I do NOT find where God sent Muhammad to make a THIRD covenant between Muslims and God.
So, yet another point for Jesus being the TRUE Prophet.
#5. Almighty God did many miraculous works through His prophet Moses, according to Deuteronomy 34:10-12 and other passages of Scripture like Psalm 78:43-53.
And Almighty God bore witness that He commissioned His Prophet Jesus by the many miracles He did through the hands of Jesus, according to John 14:10 and many other passages of Scripture.
John 5:30-47.
“I can of my own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father which has sent me.
John 5:31. If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
John 5:32. There is another that bears witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesses of me is true.
John 5:33. You sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.
John 5:34. But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that you might be saved.
John 5:35. He was a burning and a shining light: and you were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.
John 5:36. But I have greater WITNESS than that of John: for the WORKS which the Father has given me to finish, the same WORKS that I do, bear WITNESS of me, that the Father has sent me.
John 5:37. And the Father Himself, which has sent me, has borne witness of me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His shape.
John 5:38. And you have not His word abiding in you: for whom He has sent, him you believe not.
John 5:39. Search the Scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. (In other words, the Scriptures prophecy of Jesus as the Prophet that God promised to raise up from among the brethren of the children of Israel who would be LIKE Moses)
John 5:40. And you will not come to me, that you might have life.
John 5:41. I receive not honor from men.
John 5:42. But I know you, that you have not the love of God in you.
John 5:43. I am come in my Father’s NAME, and you receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him you will receive. (And some of the children of Abraham through the seed of Ishmael and the seed of Esua have received ANOTHER prophet named Muhammad.
And thus, they DENY that Jesus is the Son of God, which Almighty God COMMANDS that we MUST believe if we want to receive ETERNAL LIFE and NOT be cast into the lake of fire on the final Day of Judgment)
John 5:44. How can you believe, which receive honor one of another, and seek NOT the honor that comes from God only? (And nowhere in the Bible ITSELF is the ONLY TRUE God called Allah)
John 5:45. Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuses you, even Moses, in whom you trust.
John 5:46. For had you believed Moses, you would have believed me: for he wrote of me. (Again, proving that the Prophet that Moses wrote about in Deuteronomy 18:15-19 is speaking of Jesus and NOT Muhammad as some Muslims claim)
John 5:47. But if you believe not his writings, how shall you believe my words?”
Jesus calls Almighty God his Father many times and also calls himself the Son of God in John 3:18, John 5:25, John 9:35, John 10:36, and John 11:4.
But yet, Muslims DENY that God has a Son. Muslims believe their prophet Muhammad OVER the words of Jesus.
And I believe that John 5:43, which I just quoted above highlighted in green, is a prophecy of Muhammad that the children of Abraham, of the seed of Ishmael, received.
Since there are so many things where Jesus is LIKE Moses, I will only give the Scripture references for you to look up for yourself.
I may go ahead and write out some points where Jesus is LIKE or similar to Moses that Muhammad is NOT LIKE Moses. Let us start when both Moses and Jesus were born.
#6. Moses was born when the children of Israel were in bondage in Egypt, according to Exodus 1:8-14.
And Jesus was born when the tribes of Israel and Judah were in bondage to heavy taxes and oppression under the Roman Empire, according to Luke 2:1,2.
The Jews rebelled in 66 AD, which led to the destruction of the Jewish Temple in 70 AD.
#7. The new Pharaoh decreed that all of the male Hebrew babies were to be killed, according to Exodus 1:15-22, and Exodus 2:1-10.
And King Herod decreed that all of the male Hebrew children under the age of two were to be killed, according to Matthew 2:1-18.
#8. Moses was miraculously delivered from being killed as a baby, according to Exodus 2:1-10.
And God warned Joseph to flee to Egypt until King Herod died so that the 2 year old Jesus would not be killed, according to Matthew 3:13-18.
#9. Almighty God MADE Moses to be a God before Pharaoh in Exodus 7:1 and the magicians of Pharaoh were no match for the miracles that Moses did by permission of Almighty God telling Moses what to do.
Exodus 7:1.
“And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made you a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet.”
And God MADE Jesus to become a God under and subject to Him to rule over the whole earth in order to JUDGE Satan and the fallen angels.
Again, for all of the Scriptures proving that Almighty God MADE His human Son, Jesus, to become a God, Lord, and King, please read ALL of Book 7 WHY God Created us!
#10. God used Moses to miraculously feed the children of Israel with Manna from heaven in Exodus 16:11-15.
And God used Jesus to miraculously feed 5,000 people not counting the women and the children by multiplying two fish and five loaves of bread in Matthew 14:14-21.
And as a side note, the Manna from heaven was a FIGURE of Jesus being the TRUE BREAD from heaven where “bread” symbolically represents DOCTRINE or true teaching from heaven that gives ETERNAL LIFE to WHOSOEVER BELIEVES the teaching of Jesus.
#11. Moses appointed SEVENTY helpers in Numbers 11:16,17.
And Jesus appointed SEVENTY other disciples in Luke 10:1-17.
#12. The FACE of Moses shown with the GLORY of Almighty God in Exodus 34:29-35.
And the FACE of Jesus shown with the GLORY of God in Matthew 17:2.
Again, I do not find that the face of Muhammad shown like the face of Moses.
So again, the EVIDENCE is WAY in favor of Jesus being the TRUE Prophet that Moses prophesied to be LIKE Moses.
#13. According to Numbers 12:3, Moses was MEEK and lowly.
And according to Matthew 21:4,5 and Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus was MEEK and lowly.
And Muhammad was NOT meek and lowly, but rather, Muhammad used the sword and force of WAR to get his message heard.
#14. Moses fasted for FORTY days and FORTY nights, according to Exodus 34:27,28.
And Jesus fasted for FORTY days and FORTY nights, according to Matthew 4:1,2.
#15. Moses was a SNARE to the Egyptians, according to Exodus 10:7.
And Jesus was a SNARE to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and a stumbling block to the house of Israel, according to the prophecy in Isaiah 8:14 and the fulfillment in 1 Peter 2:8.
#16. Moses was willing to bear the penalties for the sins of the people, according to Exodus 32:30-33.
And Jesus suffered and died on the cross for the sins of the whole world, according to the prophecy in Isaiah 53:1-12, and the fulfillment in 1 Corinthians 15:1-8 and 1 John 2:1,2.
#17. God gave Moses the power over the Red Sea to part the waters, according to Exodus 14:21,22.
And God gave Jesus the power to walk on the sea of Galilee that was tossed with waves and strong winds in Matthew 14:23-33.
And at another time Jesus calmed the storm in the sea of Galilee in Mark 4:37-41.
#18. God sent Moses to deliver the children of Israel out of PHYSICAL bondage to slavery of physical work.
And God sent Jesus to deliver whosoever believes out of SPIRITUAL bondage to sin, the work of iniquity, according to Romans 6:11-14 and Romans 8:2,3.
#19. Moses appeared to Jesus to show him what manner of death he would die, according to Matthew 17:3, and has not appeared to anyone else.
And after God raised Jesus from the dead he appeared to all of his disciples, according to Acts 1:3.
Stephen saw Jesus in a vision in Acts 7:55,56. And Jesus appeared to Paul in Acts 9:1-18.
And in our present day, Jesus has appeared to MANY Muslims, according to their personal testimonies at some of the following links to YouTube videos.
Jesus rescues Muslims from hell.
Muslims sees Jesus in a dream.
Syrian Muslim encounters Jesus.
So, if you are a Muslim who is TRULY seeking the TRUTH, then I implore you to watch some of those videos and ask Jesus to reveal to you the truth of the WHOLE word of Almighty God.
Now, I could make this list of Jesus being LIKE Moses longer, but no matter how MUCH Jesus is LIKE Moses, those MANY similarities do not prove to Muslims that Jesus is THAT Prophet spoken of by Moses in Deuteronomy 18:15-19.
For you see, Muslims focus ONLY SINGLE verses of Scripture and NOT on the CONTEXT of those individuals versus taken out of their context.
And to THEM, they argue or claim that there is nothing in the CONTEXT of Deuteronomy that proves that Jesus is that Prophet.
Well, the SAME argument can be used by Christians to say that there is NOTHING in the CONTEXT of Deuteronomy 18:15-19 to PROVE that the Prophet spoken by Moses is Muhammad.
The main point of this Verse Study is that Jesus is FAR MORE LIKE Moses than Muhammad is like Moses.
Again, Muslims argue that Christian do not teach that Jesus is a Prophet of God, but rather, Christians teach that Jesus is Almighty God HIMSELF in the flesh.
So then, in the mind of Muslims, it makes no sense for God Himself to be His OWN Prophet.
And I would have to agree, if the Bible ITSELF teaches that Jesus is Almighty God Himself, it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever for Almighty God to BECOME His own Prophet.
But what Muslims fail to see is that NOT ALL Christians WRONGLY believe and teach that Jesus is Almighty God HIMSELF in the flesh.
For you see, the Bible ITSELF does NOT teach that Jesus is Almighty God Himself.
Rather, the Bible itself teaches us that God CREATED Jesus in the womb of the Virgin Mary.
Jesus is called the Son of MAN more than twice as many times as he is called the Son of God.
Also, it is ASSUMED by SOME Christians that Jesus had a DIVINE NATURE from the moment that he was BORN. But that is NOT what the Bible ITSELF teaches us.
Yes, the birth of Jesus was indeed a MIRACULOUS birth, in that, Jesus did NOT have any earthly biological father.
And that is because God CREATED the Son of MAN in the womb of the Virgin Mary, according to Jeremiah 31:32.
Jeremiah 31:32.
“How long will you go about, O you backsliding daughter? For the LORD has CREATED a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man.”
This is a PROPHECY of Jesus being CREATED by Yahweh in the womb of a woman.
Therefore, Jesus being called the Son of God means that Jesus was created as the HUMAN Son of God for a REASON.
And the reason for WHY God MADE man and the Son of MAN, Jesus, a little LOWER than the angels is to JUDGE the fallen angels by the MAN, whom God ordained and raised from the dead to be MADE His Lord over the earth.
In part 3 of this series of Verse Studies on who is the Prophet that Moses foretold in Deuteronomy 18:15-19 would come, I will cover point #3.
Again, point #3 is that the Prophet would be raised up from among their BRETHREN.
The Muslims argue that the “brethren” refer to the offspring of Ishmael.
And Christians argue that the “brethren” refer to the children of Israel, the offspring of Jacob, the father of the twelve tribes of Israel.

Again, Jesus OBTAINED that which is more excellent than the angels by INHERITANCE after the cross, or WHEN he offered himself for our sins and was SEATED at the right hand of Majesty, according to Hebrews 1:3.
And WE are JOINT-HEIRS with Jesus to inherit everything thAT Jesus inherits, according to Romans 8:15-19, and John 17:13-26.
Now, SOME Christians in different church denominations, such as the Roman Catholic Church, sincerely, but wrongly believe, in the FALSE doctrine or original sin.
And thus, they build their other man-made doctrines upon the false doctrine of every person being born with a so-called sinful NATURE.
And therefore, they wrongly conclude that ONLY Almighty God Himself can die for the sins of man. But the TRUTH of the matter is that God CHOSE for a MAN to die for the sins of the world.

So then, I pray that you can see that God was placed on the spot, so to speak, to make PEACE in the universe without being seen by the faithful angels as a UNJUST God to destroy His ENEMIES that waged a WAR against Him and against them.
Now, the Christadelphian Christians, as well as, some other church denominations, such as the Roman Catholic Church, sincerely, but wrongly believe in the FALSE doctrine or original sin.
And thus, they build their other man-made doctrines upon the false doctrine of every person being born with a so-called sinful NATURE.
So then, Book 8 Which FAITH is the TRUE FAITH?

The correct God intended UNDERSTANDING of God and His Son will make the Bible so much easier to understand.
For yow see. It you have the WRONG VIEW of God and His Son, then you will read that WRONG UNDERSTANDING into the Scriptures.
And thus, that “interpretation” of those verses of Scripture will NOT AGREE with the REST of God’s word.

Once Christians, Jews, Muslims, and even atheists understand the REASON that Yahweh CREATED the Son of MAN, Jesus, was to have DOMINION over the work of Yahweh’s hands.
And after you understand that the REASON that Yahweh did that is to STILL His ENEMIES, Satan and the fallen angels.
Then you can understand that God made His human Son to become “a” Lord, “a” King, and “a” God, under and subject to his God and Father in order to JUDGE Satan and the fallen angels.
