***What Does Revelation 12:4 TRULY mean?
Here is Revelation 12:4 from the KJV. “And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.”
There are FOUR main questions that are actually two-part questions.
And these four two-part opposing questions are causing controversy regarding this verse of Scripture in Revelation 12:4.
Let me show you the questions first, and then we will delve into the study in God’s word.
Two-part Question #1.
WHEN did the Dragon draw the stars from heaven?
In other words, did Lucifer draws one third of the stars from heaven during the PREVIOUS age of the earth?
Or does it seem as if Revelation 12:4 is saying that Satan drew one third of the stars from heaven in the near FUTURE and cast them to the ground?
Two-part Question #2.
Who or what are the STARS?
In other words, are the stars the LITERAL stars in the CONSTELLATIONS that are in heaven?
Or are the stars symbolically referring to the angels?
Two-part Question #3.
Is the woman in verse 4 the SAME woman in Revelation 12:1?
In other words, the woman in verse 4 definitely appears to be the virgin Mary, but WHO is the woman in Revelation 12:1?
Or is the woman in verse 1 the SAME woman in Revelation 12:4 or a DIFFERENT woman?
Two-part Question #4.
WHO is the WOMAN in Revelation 12:6-17?
In other words, the woman in verse 4 definitely appears to be unsaved Israel during the 3 and one half years of the great tribulation.
So, is this the SAME woman in Revelation 12:1 or a DIFFERENT woman?
This Verse Study is part 4 of a series of studies showing the errors of interpretation made by the YEC Christians who DENY that there was a PREVIOUS AGE of the earth BEFORE God created Adam.
The YEC Christians are the Young Earth Creationist Christians who dogmatically insist that Almighty God created the entire universe in six LITERAL 24 hours days, which is 144 LITERAL HOURS for the ENTIRE universe to be created!
In other words, the YEC Christians do NOT believe in any other interpretation of Genesis 1:1-31 except for a STRICT LITERAL understanding!
And that is the number one ERROR made by the YEC Christians.

The WAR in Heaven Started During a PREVIOUS AGE!
Let us begin this study in God’s word with what all Christians AGREE upon.
In other words, all Christians know and understand that the CHILD who is brought forth to RULE is speaking of Jesus.
And all Christians AGREE that the Dragon refers to Satan the Devil that wants to devour the CHILD as soon as it is BORN.
Revelation 12:4,5.
“And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
Revelation 12:5. And she brought forth a man child, who was to RULE all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to His throne.”
So then, what we can readily see and understand is that the Virgin Mary is a WOMAN, who indeed did bear a man child who shall RULE over all nations during the world to come.
And we also know that Jesus ascended into heaven to be seated on his God and Father’s throne, according to Revelation 3:21.
Let us go ahead and read that verse because Christians need to look up the Scripture references and read them for themselves.
Revelation 3:21.
“To him that OVERCOMES will I GRANT to sit with me in my throne, even as I ALSO OVERCAME, and am SET down with my Father in HIS throne.”
In other words, in the same way that Almighty God GRANTED Jesus the honor to be seated on His throne BECAUSE of his OVERCOMING the world, Jesus will do the SAME for us who OVERCOME the world.
Keep in mind that Satan is the god of this present world or AGE.
And it is the MOON that RULES over the NIGHT, speaking of the children of the NIGHT who walk in DARKNESS to bear the IMAGE of their father, Satan, the Devil.
But we who are in Jesus are the children of the SUN, the giver and source of all LIGHT, walk in the LIGHT even as Jesus walked in the LIGHT.
And according 1 John 1:5 and James 1:17, Almighty God the Father is LIGHT and the Father of lights.
1 John 1:5-7.
“This then is the MESSAGE (Or THIS is the GOSPEL, the GOOD NEWS that we can become LIGHT and have no DARKNESS in us) which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is LIGHT, and in Him is no DARKNESS at all.
1 John 1:6. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the TRUTH:
1 John 1:7. But if we WALK in the LIGHT, as he is in the light, (Or if we follow the example of Jesus who did no sin when he walked in the light to overcome the world through the power of the Eternal Spirit dwelling in him to offer himself as a sacrifice to God, then) we HAVE fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.”
James 1:17.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with WHOM is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. (And Jesus was begotten by God to be the Light of the world and become the FIRST of the firstfruits unto God, according to 1 Corinthians 15:20-28)
James 1:18. Of His own will begat He us with the word of TRUTH, that WE should be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.”
So then, what we have learned from all these verses is that the WOMAN in Revelation 12:4 is not only the Virgin Mary, but she is ALSO the CHURCH of the FIRSTBORN.
The word church means the called out ones, and we are called OUT of DARKNESS to WALK in the LIGHT to bear the FRUIT of the Holy Spirit.
Which by the way, there are TWELVE manners of fruit and each fruit is associated with the TWELVE months of the year that the TREE of LIFE yields, according to Revelation 22:2, Galatians 5:22-25, and Ephesians 5:7-11.
You can click on the links and read the verses on your own.
But, I want point out the NUMBER TWELVE, because I want you to see how #12 is connected or associated with the TREE of LIFE and the twelve months of the year.
For you see, there are TWELVE STARS on the CROWN that is on the woman’s HEAD in Revelation 12:1.
So, I point this out to show you that the woman in verse 4 is the SAME woman in verse 1 and also in Revelation 12:6-17.
In other words, by the end of this study, which I will divide into smaller portions or parts, you will see that the woman is ALL FOUR VIEWS or all four interpretations.
The women is the constellation of Virgo, she is the Virgin Mary, she is Israel, and the woman is also the BODY of Jesus Christ, the CHURCH of the FIRSTBORN among many BRETHREN.
With that being said, let us read Revelation 12:1 and then we will read about the dream that Joseph had in the Old Testament.
Revelation 12:1,2.
“And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a WOMAN clothed with the SUN, and the moon UNDER her FEET, and upon her head a CROWN of TWELVE STARS:
Revelation 12:2. And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.”
Now read the dream that Joseph had of his the harvest of his 11 brothers bowing down to his harvest.
Genesis 35:5-11.
“And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.
Genesis 37:6. And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:
Genesis 37:7. For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.
Genesis 37:8. And his brethren said to him, Shall you indeed reign over us? Or shall you indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.
Genesis 37:9. And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the ELEVEN STARS made obeisance to me.
Genesis 37:10. And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall I and you mother and you brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to you to the earth?
Genesis 37:11. And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.”
Let us read two more verses before we put it all together.
Romans 2:27,28.
“For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
Romans 2:29. But he is a Jew, which is one INWARDLY; and circumcision is that of the HEART, in the spirit, and NOT in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.”
Revelation 3:9.
“Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which SAY they are Jews, and are NOT, but do LIE; behold, I will make them to come and worship before you feet, and to know that I have loved thee.”
So then, the one thing in COMMON with all four “interpretations” of the ONE woman in BIRTH being in pain to be delivered.
And, according to Romans 8:15-23, we as Christians GROAN for the MANIFESTATION of the sons of God, the redemption of our BODIES.
Let us go ahead and read that passage of Scripture.
Romans 8:15-23.
“ For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but you have received the Spirit of ADOPTION, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Roman 8:16. The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
Roman 8:17. And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Romans 8:18. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Romans 8:19. For the earnest expectation of the creature waits for the manifestation of the sons of God.
Romans 8:20. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who has subjected the same in hope,
Romans 8:21. Because the creature itself also shall be DELIVERED from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
Romans 8:22. For we know that the whole creation GROANS and TRAVAILS in PAIN together until now.
Romans 8:23. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves GROAN within ourselves, waiting for the ADOPTION, to wit, the redemption of our body.”
So then, the bride of Christ, a WOMAN, the CHURCH travails in pain to be delivered from the corruption that is in this present world.
With that being said, here are the four “interpretations” of WHO the woman is in Revelation 12:1-17.
Interpretation number 1 is the woman is the constellation of Virgo.
Interpretation number 2 is the woman is the Virgin Mary.
Interpretation number 3 is the woman is Israel.
Interpretation number 4 is the woman is the church.
Again, one of the things in COMMON with all four OPINIONS of WHO the woman is, is that she is TRAVAILING or she has travailed in BIRTH being in pain to deliver her CHILD.
There are other things in common as well, but let us start with “travailing in birth”.
According to Genesis 3:16, and 1 Timothy 2:13-15, the judgment because of sin that was given to Eve, the first woman, is travailing in pain to be delivered of that pain when she bears her CHILDREN.
So then, the Virgin Mary travailed in birth delivering the child Jesus.
But some may ask how does Israel and the church travail in pain being ready to deliver a child?
Paul said that he TRAVAILED in BIRTH again through prayer for some that he had doubts about.
Galatians 4:19.
“My little children, of whom I TRAVAIL in BIRTH again until Christ be formed in you,
Galatians 4:20. I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you.”
In other words, it seems that they were SAYING they were saved, but their works did not show that they were truly saved.
So, Paul agonized in prayer again until they were truly born-again and Christ was formed in them.
Thus, witnessing, preaching the gospel and praying for people to be saved, and making intercession for the lost by praying in other tongues are all ways of travailing in birth to bring lost people into the Kingdom of God, to be new born babes in Jesus Christ.
But the children of Israel stopped bearing children, as is, they stopped bearing SPIRITUAL children.
In other words, they stopped evangelizing the Gentiles to bear TRUE children into the Jewish faith of God.
Rather, they converted carnal children into the Jewish faith of OUTWARD appearance.
And even then, the number of children coming into the Jewish faith grew less and less, until there there were basically only NATURAL born Jews being taught the jewish faith.
But God desires His daughter of Zion to TRAVAIL in birth to bear children into His Kingdom.
Let us go ahead and read that PROPHECY so that I can explain a few things within the Scripture as you read it.
Micah 4:6-13.
“In that DAY, says the LORD, (Or during the SEVENTH 1000 year-long day in the AGE to come says Yahweh the Creator) will I assemble her that halts, (Which means to curve away to one side. In other words, LEAN not to your own understanding lest you depart from God.
And then, the hedge of God’s protection from the enemy is removed) and I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted; (Jesus said to the children of Israel who halted by turning away from God’s Messiah, that they would be cast into outer darkness, while the church would enter into the Kingdom of heaven BEFORE them)
Micah 4:7 And I will make her (Speaking of the WOMAN, Israel, God chosen people) that halted a REMNANT, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD (Speaking of Yahweh the Creator, who alone is the Father) shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever.
Micah 4:8. And you, (Speaking of the now GLORIFIED Son of MAN, Jesus) O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of Zion, (Zion is the City of Yahweh, a city of righteous people created as His NEW creatures.
Thus, the City of God is called the NEW Jerusalem.
Therefore, the Christians in Jesus with be partakers of the harvest at the coming of Jesus.
Hence, we are ALSO the daughter of Zion, but we are NOT the daughter of Zion who HALTED by rejecting Jesus as the Messiah) unto you shall it come, even the FIRST DOMINION; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem. (In other words, the Messiah Jesus will rule over the Kingdom for the FIRST 1000 years of eternity future.
And WE, the daughter of Zion that do NOT halt, will rule and reign WITH Jesus.
And HENCEFORTH or after the 1000 year reign of Jesus, Yahweh Himself will rule in His NEW heavens and His NEW earth, which He gives His NEW creation of new creatures to INHERIT, according to 1 Corinthians 15:20-28, Revelation 21:1-4, Hebrews 1:2-4, and Romans 8:14-19)
Micah 4:9. Now why do you cry out aloud? Is there no king in you? (Do you see the symbolism in the Scriptures?
Yahweh the Eternal King and His King dwells in us who BELIEVE.
But there is no King dwelling in the Jews who HALT by turning away from Jesus as their Messiah, their Lord and King) Is your counselor perished? For pangs have taken you as a WOMAN in travail. (This is the main point that I want you to see at this moment so you can see that Israel is ALSO the WOMAN in Revelation 12:1-17.
But so is the constellation Virgo, the Virgin Mary, and the CHURCH are the WOMAN along with Israel.
This will all be made clear as you continue reading this series of studies to the end.
You will see how all of the Scriptures TIE together with Genesis 1:3-18 when God said let the be light, then God SET two lights, a greater light and a lessor light.
The GREATER light, the Sun of RIGHTEOUSNESS, RULES the DAY and the lesser light, the moon god Satan, rules the NIGHT)
Micah 4:10. Be in pain, and labor to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail: for NOW, (Or for this first 1000 years. But first, there is that matter of your transgress O daughter of Zion that HALTS, know and understand that if I did not love you, I would not chastise you with my wrath) you shall go forth out of the city, (Or you shall be cast into outer darkness and not be allowed to enter the City of God YET) and you shall dwell in the field, and you shall go even to Babylon; there shall you be delivered; there the LORD shall redeem you from the hand of your enemies. (In other words, the WRATH of Almighty God is about to be poured out on Babylon, which is the WORLD system of the king of Babylon, also known as Satan, the god of this present world.
And the unsaved Jews will suffer the wrath of God along with the rest of the unsaved world.
Keep in mind the REASON for being APPOINTED to God’s WRATH is NOT bearing FRUIT.
Not just the fruit of the Spirit to walk in RIGHTEOUSNESS, but also bearing the fruit of BIRTHING SPIRITUAL children into the Kingdom of Almighty God.
In John 15:1-18, Jesus teaches us to remain in him, the vine, so that we will bear much fruit and the Father is glorified.
But more than this, Jesus wants us to bear fruit that will REMAIN faithful unto to the end.
Some plant the seed of God’s word, and some water it, but God gives the increase.
Notice that God has given us the job of watering as well as the planting of the seed of God’s word.
So, go and make DISCIPLES. The daughter of Zion that HALTED stopped making disciples of God)
Micah 4:11. Now also many nations are gathered against you, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion. (This a twofold prophecy.
First, it is a prophecy of God turning to the Gentiles to be made disciples of Him through His Messiah first, and now through the church, which is mostly Gentile Christians.
So, be on guard lest you lose your FIRST LOVE. Do you remember that first love when you first BELIEVED?
Do you recall how much you LOVED telling others about God’s salvation?
We all need to be careful not to HALT or bend away from our first love.
But this verse also speaks of the Gentiles that HATE the Jews and the Christians in the last days and especially in the last days.
And they will rejoice looking upon Israel being taking captive and slain in the streets of Jerusalem.
Revelation 11:10 says they will give gifts to each other rejoicing over the slain Jews and Christians, because these two witnesses tormented them with the prophecies of Almighty God telling them the TRUTH in LOVE.
Sounds a lot like what is happening in Israel in our day. The radical Islamic Muslims are rejoice over their massacring Jewish civilians in the streets.
And they will also be against the Christians as well. This is why Jesus WARNS us in Luke 21:20-28 that when we see Jerusalem surrounded by armies to FLEE Judea and do not enter into the surrounding countries)
Micah 4:12. But they (Speaking of those who HATE the Christians and the Jews) know not the thoughts of the LORD, neither do they understand His counsel: for He shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor.
Micah 4:13. Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: (Again, this is a twofold prophecy.
Arise from the dead and be part of the harvest, but ALSO to arise and execute the wrath and vengeance of God upon the wicked.
There are three harvests, Jesus the firstfruits, then we who are in Christ at his coming is the second harvest,
And at the very end of the Millennial reign of Jesus will be the third and final harvest of firstfruits unto God.
Again, Zion is the City of God’s new creation of new creatures made in His perfect or complete image.
In other words, we will be made partakers of the DIVINE NATURE of immortality the same as Jesus was made perfect after the cross and resurrection, according to Hebrews 2:10) for I will make your horn iron, and I will make your hoofs brass: and you shall beat in pieces many people: (This also speaks of God giving ALL of the saints the honor to execute the vengeance upon the wicked, according to Psalm 149:4-9) and I will consecrate their gain unto the LORD, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth.”
In other words, the wealth of the wicked is laid up for the just to use during the 1000 year reign of Jesus.
This concludes this Verse Study on the series of Verses Studies that began with Genesis 1:14-19.
And in part 1, we started with God’s word teaching us that the sun, moon, and stars are FOR SIGNS!
And we concluding that they were SIGNS pointing to the TRUE worship of the SUN of RIGHTEOUSNESS and the FALSE worship of Satan, the moon god, and the worshiping of the stars as being the worshiping of the fallen angels.
So then, this Verse Study on Revelation 12:4 again shows the ERRORS of interpretation make by the YEC Christians who TRY to support their wrong belief that the entire universe was created just 6,000 years ago is SIX literal days due to their strict view of a LITERAL translation ONLY is acceptable.
For you see, the entire Bible is filled with hidden prophecies, types, shadows, figures of Jesus, and lots of SYMBOLISM.
Thus, to INSIST the Genesis 1:1-31 must be interpreted LITERALLY is an ERROR on the part of the YEC Christians.

Then you can understand that God made His human Son to become “a” Lord, “a” King, and “a” God, under and subject to his God and Father in order to JUDGE Satan and the fallen angels.
