The Bible ITSELF Clearly Teaches an OLD Earth!
***What Does Genesis 1:1,2 TRULY mean?
Here is Genesis 1:1.2 from the KJV. “Genesis 1:1. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
There are no less than THREE interpretations of Genesis 1:1,2.
Interpretation #1.
The Young Earth Creationist understanding is that the earth and the entire universe was created around 6,000 years ago in six literal 24 hour days.
Interpretation #2.
The Old Earth Creationist understanding is that the earth was created in the eternity past along with the entire universe and ONLY man was created around 6,000 years ago when God RESTORED the heavens and the earth in Genesis 1:3-31.
Interpretation #3.
This is the same understanding as interpretation number 2, but having different understandings on HOW the earth BECAME without form and void.
In other words, some of the OEC Christians believe in the understanding of a GAP of time between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2 and SOMETHING happened to cause the earth to become without form and void.
The abbreviation “OEC” stands for Old Earth Crrationist Christians, which believe that the earth is billions of years old, but mankind is only around 6,000 years old.
Thus, something happened around 12,000 to 15,000 years ago that caused the earth to become without form and void.
Then God restored the earth in Genesis 1:3-31.
And some other OEC Christians believe in the understanding that God CUT DOWN the heavens and the earth, which would make Genesis 1:1-31 a NEW beginning and NOT the ORIGINAL creation of the earth.
And thus, the WHOLE meaning of the Hebrew word “bara” should be understood when reading Genesis 1:1, as God created AND God cut down the heaven and the earth.
In other words, God created the entire universe in the eternity past some billions of years ago.
And then, around 15,000 years ago God CUT DOWN the earth in His WRATH against His ENEMIES that waged a WAR against the other side of heaven, including attacking God’s throne.

Which VIEW of Genesis 1:1,2 is the God INTEND View?
I myself believe in understanding number 2, but the more I study this subject, I can clearly see God’s WRATH being poured out at the FOUNDATION of the earth.
So, to me, it is blatantly obvious that what God is doing in Genesis 1:3-31 is NOT the ORIGINAL creation of the earth.
Therefore, I can nor will ever accept the narrow minded YEC Christian interpretation that God created the entire universe in six literal 14 hour days. The abbreviation “YEC” stands for Young Earth Creationist Christians.
First of all, the YEC Christian view of a literal 6 day creation of the entire universe around 6,000 years ago, is NOT a good witness to the unsaved world, in my own opinion.
For you see, what logical thinking person, who is not saved, would be DRAWN to hear more about God, who supposedly created the entire universe in just 144 hours, some 6,000 years ago?
And God did that supposedly knowing that the angels would rebel against Him, and then tempt Eve to disobey God’s one commandment.
And God supposedly did all of that, so that He could save whosoever of mankind, who believes in His Messiah, to JUDGE the angels who rebelled, so that God could destroy the angels that sinned in the lake of fire.
To me, the YEC Christian interpretation consequently forces God to be the Creator of all EVIL in the world, which I will NEVER believe.
For you see, 1 John 1:5,6 clearly teaches us that in God there is no DARKNESS at all.
1 John 1:5,6.
“This then is the MESSAGE which we have heard of him, (Speaking of Jesus) and declare unto you, that God is light, and in Him (Or in Amighty God the Creator, the Father of LIGHTS, according to James 1:13-17) is no DARKNESS at all.
1 John 1:6. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:”
Now, some Christians may argue that Isaiah 45:7 clearly states as a FACT that God CREATED both DARKNESS and EVIL.
Isaiah 45:7.
“I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.”
But yet all Christians AGREE that the Bible ITSELF in the ORIGINAL text does NOT contradict itself.
Therefore, ONE of these verses is NOT correctly TRANSLATED, because in the English language they do indeed CONTRADICT each other.
Now, the CONTEXT in Isaiah chapter 45 is all about God NOT creating the earth in VAIN, which can also be translated as God did not CUT DOWN the earth in VAIN.
Either way that Isaiah 45:18 is translated, the end result is the same.
And that RESULT is that the earth BECAME without form and void in Genesis 1:2.
Let me explain what I mean by showing you three different translations or understandings of Isaiah 45:18.
Here is Isaiah 45:18 from the KJV.
“For thus says the LORD that created the heavens; God Himself that formed the earth and made it; He has established it, He created it not in vain, He formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.”
Here is Isaiah 45:18 from the KJV with COMMENTS.
“For thus says the LORD (Or thus says Yahweh) that created the heavens; God Himself that formed the earth and MADE it; (Or God Himself that formed the earth in the eternity past AND BRUISES it billions of year later in His WRATH) He has established it, (Or He has FIXED it) He created it NOT in VAIN, (Or He did but CUT it DOWN in vain to lie in waste) He formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.”
Here is Isaiah 45:18 a more correct translation.
“For thus says Yahweh that created the heavens; God Himself that formed the earth and BRUISED it; He has FIXED it, He did NOT CUT it DOWN in VAIN, He formed it to be inhabited: I am Yahweh; and there is none else.”
So, as you can see, by simply using the OTHER meanings of the Hebrew words to CORRECTLY translate both Isaiah 45:18 and Isaiah 45:7, then they both agree with 1 John 1:3 and James 1:13-17.
Revelation 12:9 teaches us that Satan has DECEIVED the WHOLE world.
And that includes some Christians being DECEIVED.
So, consider the following, all Protestant Christians know and understand that Satan DECEIVED the Roman Catholic Church.
And according to the history recorded of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Nicholas 1 BANNED the reading of the Bible. The emphasis is mine.
“In 860, Pope Nicholas I, sitting high on a throne built specially for the occasion in the town square, pronounced against all people who expressed interest in reading the Bible, and reaffirmed its banned public use (Papal Decree).”
Jesus said that he hated the DOCTRINE of the Nicholatians in Revelation 2:13-17.
Let us go ahead and read that passage of Scripture.
“I know your works, and where you dwell, even where Satan’s seat is: and you hold fast my name, and have not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwells.
Revelation 2:14. But I have a few things against you, because you have there, them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
Revelation 2:15. So have you also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.
Revelation 2:16. Repent; or else I will come unto you quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
Revelation 2:17. He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches; To him that overcomes will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knows saving he that receiveth it.”
Now, in the history of the Roman Catholic Church, the LEADERS of the church BANNED Christians from reading the Bible, they invented the false man-made doctrine of the Trinity that took over three hundred years to form and force upon Christians a dogma, which must be believed or else be excommunicated, exiled, tortured, and even martyred.
And in the centuries that followed after the council at Chalcedon, the Roman Catholic Church invented many other false doctrines that CONTRADICT what the Bible itself actually teaches.
Now, when the Protestant Reformation BEGAN, many of the false doctrines were REJECTED by many former Roman Catholic priests, monks and Bishops.
However, SOME of the false Roman Catholic doctrines were retained, such as baby baptism, the doctrine of original sin, and the doctrine of the Trinity.
And thus, when the Bible was TRANSLATED into English, it was done by Christians who BELIEVED in the doctrine of the Trinity and the doctrine of original sin.
Therefore, it is not a stretch to argue that Satan INFLUENCED godly men to INCORRECTLY translate some verses that agree with their Calvinistic BELIEF that God ordained EVERYTHING that happens both good and EVIL.
In other words, the WAY in which Isaiah 45:7 is “translated” in the KJV as God saying, “I CREATE DARKNESS and CREATE EVIL”, that is a Calvinistic BIASED translation.
For you see, the Hebrew word “bara” ALSO means to CUT DOWN darkness and evil as opposed to God creating darkness and evil.
So, to me, a more CORRECT translation, which AGREES with the CONTEXT and also with the WHOLE word of Almighty God is as follows.
Isaiah 45:7,18.
“I form the LIGHT, and CUT DOWN darkness: I make peace, and CUTDOWN evil: I the LORD do all these things…
…Isaiah 45:18. For thus says Yahweh that created the heavens; God Himself that formed the earth and BRUISED it; He has FIXED it, He did NOT CUT DOWN it in VAIN, He formed it to be inhabited: I am Yahweh; and there is none else.”
With all of this in mind, let us now read a translation of Genesis 1:1,2 from the The Bible in Basic English.
Genesis 1:1,2 from The Bible in Basic English.
“At the first God made the heaven and the earth.
Genesis 1:2. And the earth was waste and without form; and it was dark on the face of the deep: and the Spirit of God was moving on the face of the waters.”
Or a more correct understanding in the light of Isaiah 45:7,18 and many other passages of Scripture that we will be looking at in other Verse Studies on this subject, is as follows.
A more correct understanding of Genesis 1:1,2.
“At the FIRST God MADE (Or at FIRST God BRUISED) the heaven and the earth.
Genesis 1:2. And the earth was waste and without form; and it was dark on the face of the deep: and the Spirit of God was moving on the face of the waters.”
Now let us read Genesis 1:1,2 from the Common English Bible.
“WHEN God BEGAN to create the heavens and the earth,
Genesis 1:2. the earth was without shape or form, it was dark over the deep sea, and God’s wind swept over the waters.”
So, as you can see, there are other Bible Scholars who know and understand that the phrase “In the BEGINNING” is NOT the best way to translate Genesis 1:1.
Now, with all of this in mind, I propose the following translation, which agrees with the more correct translation of Isaiah 45:7,18.
I will quote that verse again, right after my proposed more correct translation of Genesis 1:1,2.
My own more correct translation of Genesis 1:1,2.
“AT FIRST God CUT DOWN PART of the heavens and the surface of the earth. (With a great FLOOD in His anger and wrath against the UPROAR of one third of the angels waging a war against His throne)
Genesis 1:2. And the earth BECAME a WASTE DESOLATION on the surface, and an indistinguishable RUIN that was EMPTY on the surface and DEATH, DESTRUCTION, and WICKEDNESS of darkness called the NIGHT of disembodied OBSCURE unseen invisible evil spirits BECAUSE OF the ANGER of God’s wrath AGAINST the UPROAR of the WAR in the ABYSS.”

Once Christians, Jews, Muslims, and even atheists understand the REASON that Yahweh CREATED the Son of MAN, Jesus, was to have DOMINION over the work of Yahweh’s hands.
And after you understand that the REASON that Yahweh did that is to STILL His ENEMIES, Satan and the fallen angels.
Then you can understand that God made His human Son to become “a” Lord, “a” King, and “a” God, under and subject to his God and Father in order to JUDGE Satan and the fallen angels.
