WHY the Holy Spirit is NOT a THIRD Person!
WHY the Holy Spirit is the FATHER Himself!
The purpose of this study in God’s word is to show you, the reader and seeker of the TRUTH, all the evidence from the word of Almighty God that CLEARLY and PLAINLY shows that the Holy Spirit is INDEED a PERSON.
In other words, that Holy Spirit is NOT just a mere IMPERSONAL “FORCE” or “POWER” that is simply used by Almighty God the Father as some falsely teach.
Let us begin this study in God's word by reading two verses compared side by side that are written by the SAME author written to the same church at Corinth.
First, we will read 1 Corinthians 6:19 which clearly teaches us that we as believers are the TEMPLE of the HOLY SPIRIT who dwells in us.

“What? Know you not that your body is the TEMPLE of the Holy SPIRIT, which is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own?”
Now let us compare this verse that we just read in 1 Corinthians 6:9 with 2 Corinthians 6:16 written by the SAME writer to the SAME body of believers.
But this time the SAME writer, who is saying the SAME thing, says it in a different way.
Please notice that the SAME writer to the SAME church at Corinth says that we are the TEMPLE of the LIVING GOD who is in us.
Paul told us earlier in 1 Corinthians 1:6:19 that we are the TEMPLE of the HOLY SPIRIT as he told the Corinthian church in his first letter to them.
Thus, the Living God is ONE and the self-same BEING as the Holy Spirit.
2 Corinthians 6:16.
“And what agreement has the TEMPLE of GOD with idols? For YOU are the TEMPLE of the LIVING GOD; as God has said, I will DWELL in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”
These two verses alone should be enough to clearly teach those of you who have been taught that the Holy Spirit is NOT a person, that Almighty God the Father, the LIVING God Himself dwells in you.
And therefore, the Holy Spirit is the FATHER who is indeed a person.
In other words, Almighty God the Father is ONE and the SELF-SAME DIVINE ETERNAL HOLY SPIRIT who is DWELLING in you.
These are plain and simple WORDS that are easy to understand with no interpretation needed.
Know you not that you are the temple of the HOLY SPIRIT?
So then, what agreement have YOU with evil, seeing that you are the temple of the LIVING GOD who prophesied in the Old testament that He will dwell in you?
Paul is quoting an Old Testament prophecy in 2 Corinthians 6:16b when he said the following words.

Here is a list of things about the Holy Spirit to show that he is a person rather than a mere impersonal force or power as some falsely teach.
I will not cover all the verses in this study, and thus, I will leave it to you to look the verses up for yourself that I do not cover in this study.
#1. The Holy Spirit has a mind. See Romans 8:27.
#2. The Holy Spirit helped to settle questions during the Church Council at Jerusalem. See Acts 15:28.
#3. The Holy Spirit dispenses gifts to different individuals according as He wills. See 1 Corinthians 12:8-11.
#4. The Holy Spirit forbade some from going to preach in certain places. See Acts 16:6-7.
#5. The Holy Spirit anointed Jesus and sent Him out to preach the gospel. See Luke 4:18-19.
#6. The Holy Spirit testifies or witnesses of Jesus. See John 15:26.
#7. The Holy Spirit leads God’s people. See Romans 8:14.
#8. The Holy Spirit teaches and causes us to remember the truth. See John 14:26.
#9. The Holy Spirit comforts us as does Christ. See John 14:16.
#10. The Holy Spirit strives with us. See Genesis 6:3.
#11. The Holy Spirit reproves us of sin, righteousness, and judgment. See John 16:8-11.
#12. The Holy Spirit instructs us. See Nehemiah 9:20.
#13. The Holy Spirit speaks, guides, hears and shows. John 16:13-15.
#14. The Holy Spirit speaks, chooses, calls and sends forth. See Acts 13:1-4.
#15. The Holy Spirit gives messages to prophets, and they declare: “Thus saith the Holy Ghost”. See Acts 21:11.
#16. The Holy Spirit is not to be blasphemed but blaspheming the Son of God will be forgiven. And in the same verse, the Father is NOT mentioned because the Father is the Holy Spirit. See Matthew 12:31,32.
#17. The Holy Spirit has knowledge and searches all things. See 1 Corinthians 2:10-11.
#18. The Holy Spirit sanctifies us. See Romans 15:16.
#19. The Holy Spirit holds communion with us. See 2 Corinthians 13:14; and so also does Jesus Christ communicate to us. See 1 Corinthians 1:9.
#20. The Holy Spirit is the source of regeneration and renewal for salvation. See John 3:5-8; Titus 3:5.
#21. The Holy Spirit resurrects the faithful from the dead. See Romans 8:11; 1 Peter 3:18.
#22. The Holy Spirit is the author of the Bible and moved upon the prophets to speak. See 2 Peter 1:21.
#23. The Holy Spirit is another Comforter other than Jesus Christ. See John 14:16.
#24. The Holy Spirit helps our infirmities. See Romans 8:26.
#25. The Holy Spirit can be tempted and lied to. See Acts 5:3, 9.
#26. The Holy Spirit can be blasphemed and sinned against. See Mark 3:28-29, Luke 12:10, Matthew 12:31.
#27. The Holy Spirit is another Intercessor other than Jesus Christ. See Romans 8:26.
#28. The Spirit intercedes for us to help us pray as we ought to pray. See Ephesians 5:17-20, Stir Up the Holy Spirit that is Within You.
#29. The Holy Spirit is called the ETERNAL SPIRIT in Hebrews 9, as in Hebrews 9:14.
And Almighty God the FATHER, who is ONE and the SELF-SAME BEING as the ETERNAL SPIRIT, is said to be the ONLY ONE who has always possessed IMMORTALITY in 1 Timothy 6:14-16.
So, while there SEEMS to be TWO separate SPIRITS to Triniarian Christians, the Bible ITSELF clearly teaches us that there is ONLY ONE SPIRIT and the ONE TRUE ETERNAL SPIRIT is ALMIGHTY God the Father HIMSELF who ALONE has IMMORTALITY.
And while it seems to some Christians that the Holy Spirit is NOT a person, and to THEM, the Holy Spirit is an impersonal force or power that is used by God, the Bible ITSELF clearly teaches us that the Holy Spirit is the FATHER Himself.
But for now, let us continue this study on why the Holy Spirit is a PERSON and not simply a power used by God.

So then, in all honesty, is it the TRUTH to dogmatically demand that the ETERNAL SPIRIT is nothing more than an IMPERSONAL “FORCE, or “POWER” that is used by God?

Can you honestly say that you are a TRUE worshiper of the TRUE God when you know not what you worship?

I want you to notice and pay verse close attention that ONLY TWO PERSONS are being spoken of here. And these TWO PERSONS are Jesus the Son of MAN, and the ETERNAL Holy SPIRIT who is DWELLING in Jesus.

This is why we must KEEP verses in their CONTEXT to understand their TRUE meaning.

And then COMPARE what we conclude that verse to mean in the LIGHT of the WHOLE word of God to see if what we INTERPRET a verse to mean AGREES with the REST of God's word.

But for now, I want you to see that here in this passage of Scripture, we learn once again that the Holy Spirit of Almighty God the Father is an ETERNAL SPIRIT.

This means that we all have different JOBS or works that the ONE SPIRIT leads and guides us to do.
