And the Word was a God Under His God!
***What Does John 1:1c TRULY mean?
Here is John 1:1 from the KJV. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
John 1:1(c), “and the Word was God” has three possible interpretations.
So, what if the Trinitarian UNDERSTANDING of John 1:1(c) is WRONG?
What if the Bible itself is actually teaching that a MAN became a God to replace the fallen god of this present world?
If so, then ALL Trinitarian Christians are teaching ANOTHER Jesus that the Apostles of Jesus did not teach.
And thus, God cannot use them as His TRUTHFUL WITNESSES to JUDGE the fallen angels or the fallen gods.
Here is a quote from another website explaining what the council at Chalcedon in 451 AD was all about.
“The Council of Chalcedon was called in 451 CE by the Roman Emperor Marcian (r. 450-457) to settle debates regarding the nature (hypostases, "reality") of Christ that had begun at two earlier meetings in Ephesus (431 CE and 439 CE).
The question was whether Christ was human or divine, a man who became God (through the resurrection and ascension) or God who became a man (through the incarnation, "taking on flesh"), and how his humanity and divinity affected his essence and being, if at all.”
In other words, ALL Christians at that time in history agreed that Jesus was DEITY or had divine NATURE.
But the question or DEBATE was HOW was Jesus Deity? When was Jesus Deity?
And did the Son of man, Jesus, become deity after the cross and resurrection?
Or did a pre-existing God become a man who remained fully God during the days of his flesh having BOTH natures at the SAME time, one Divine and one human, DURING the days of his FLESH?

Hebrews 2:10 Teaches that Jesus was MADE PERFECT!
Before we delve into taking a closer look at many other translations of John 1:1, I want to share a brief testimony about a dear brother in our Lord Jesus Christ who came to know Jesus, according to what the Bible itself actually teaches.
And thus, he is REJECTED by his Trinitarian brothers and sisters in the Lord.
He desperately wants to be baptized, but he is afraid to attend a Trinitarian church.
He has no one to baptize him in the NAME of Jesus, and he does not want to be baptized in the name of a TRINITY, because he knows that the Bible itself does not teach that God is a Trinity Godhead.
This kind of thing should NEVER have happened in the church, and it needs to stop.
The Apostle Paul teaches us in 2 Corinthians 11:4 that if anyone comes preaching ANOTHER Jesus, then we might well BEAR with him.
Some translations say that we do good by putting up with them.
And this is a two-way street so to speak. In other words, Trinitarian Christians should put up with Biblical Unitarian Christians, and Biblical Unitarian Christians should put up with Trinitarian Christians.
To say this another way, if a Biblical Unitarian Christian desires to get baptized in a Trinitarian church in the NAME of Jesus, and not be baptized with the TRADITIONAL Trinitarian baptism formula of in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, then Trinitarian Christians should BEAR with him or her to baptize them in the NAME of Jesus ONLY.
And the reverse of this is also true, and if a Trinitarian Christian comes to a Biblical Unitarian Church fearing that he or she MUST be baptized with the Trinitarian baptism formula, then we should BEAR with them.
For you see, we know and understand that the NAME Jesus is referring to the NEW NAME that the God of Jesus GAVE to His human Son after the cross and resurrection.
Jesus teaches us to be on guard to not lose our first love in Revelation 2:1-5.
In other words, Jesus praises us for exposing false doctrine, but at the same time he warns us to not lose our first love.
To me, when I was first saved, my first love was to tell everyone that I got saved. I wanted them to have the same joy that I found in Jesus.
To say this another way, I went to all of my family who were Catholics to share that I just got SAVED after being raised as a Catholic since birth.
And yes, you guessed correctly, I was treated like I was no longer saved, seeing that I LEFT the Roman Catholic faith.
My oldest sister wrote me a letter implying that I am a prodigal son who needs to come home to the “Mother Church” so I can be saved.
She now sees that I am indeed saved, but she still FEARS that I need to come back to the Roman Catholic Church.
Anyway, that joy of sharing that I was saved has now grown to become a love for teaching Christians to remain good and faithful servants, by becoming rooted and grounded in the Apostles DOCTRINE, so that they will not be deceived by every wind of doctrine.
And that love has now grown to desire Christians to not only be overcomers of Satan by the blood of Jesus, but also by having our word of testimony to be TRUTHFUL witnesses.
In other words, for all Christians to come in the unity of the faith in the KNOWLEDGE of the Son unto a perfect MAN, as the Apostle Paul teaches us in Ephesians, which I cover in Chapter 5 of Book 11 called The TRUE Jesus, According to ALL of the Apostles!
My love or desire that I have now is for Trinitarian Christians to come to the KNOWLEDGE that the Son of MAN was made to become a PERFECT or COMPLETE MAN after the cross and resurrection when he received his new GLORIFIED body never to die again.
And for that to happen, then we, who are Biblical Unitarian Christians that have this knowledge of the TRUE Jesus must BEAR with our Trinitarian brothers and sisters in our Lord Jesus Christ.
And sometimes that will involve bearing their rejection and persecution, calling us heretics and even saying that we are not truly saved.
Here is a link to my new Book 11 Table of Contents.
Be a FRIEND to Trinitarian Christians, they need your love to care enough to share the true Jesus to them.
With that being said, let us delve into John 1:1 to take a closer look at many translations of the Bible.
For you see, we are reading TRANSLATIONS of the Bible.
And one of the very first translations of the New Testament from the original Greek text is the Coptic translation.
You can read the whole study later, but for now, here are a few excerpts from the study called John 1:1 The Word is Not Jesus! The Word BECAME Jesus!
You can also read Book 2 Chapter 6, Why is the Coptic Translation one of the Earliest Translations?
My point right now is that there are other “translations” of John 1:1 that translate the third clause, John 1:1(c) as follows.
This first excerpt is from Book 2 Chapter 6.
“With that being said, according to Wikipedia and other sources, the Christian school in Alexandria, Egypt, was founded by the Apostle Mark.
And the native Coptic people became Christians through the preaching and teaching of the Apostle Mark, the writer of the gospel of Mark.
And the first coptic church was founded by the Apostle Mark in 42 AD.”
But due to OTHER influences of the gnostic philosophical Greek Christians, who also were students of the Alexandrian school in Egypt, the majority part of the Coptic Church EVENTUALLY became deceived to join the Roman Catholic Church that was being formed over the next few centuries.
But it is during the first and second century of the Coptic Christians that we are concerned with in this study.
For you see, not ALL Coptic Christians were deceived to become a part of the Roman Catholic Church.
And just like many other Christians of every nation contended for the faith that was first given to them, SOME of the Coptic Christians also held fast to the TRUE Gospel and the TRUE Jesus that the first Apostles taught.
So then, why are the Coptic translations of the Bible so important?
You see, the Greek language has no “indefinite” article “a” like the English language.
And thus, when a noun is NOT INTENDED to be a definite noun, then the Greek language does NOT have the definite article “a” to make the intended meaning known to the reader with absolute assurance.
So, all that can be done in the Greek language is to NOT use the definite article “the” before the noun. But again, that does not guarantee that the reader will understand the “intended meaning”.
For you see, the definite noun does not ALWAYS have to have the definite article. Therefore, it must be INTERPRETED if a noun is a definite noun or an indefinite noun.
Let me explain what I mean by using an example. If I were to ask you to hand me a pencil, then you would understand that I am asking you to hand me ANY pencil.
But, if I were to ask you to hand me the pencil that I always use, as in, I prefer to use, but I can also use a different pencil.
So then, if you knew the WHOLE story about me, then you would understand that I am asking you to hand me a SPECIFIC pencil.
And thus, you should be able to understand this example. In the beginning there was THE pencil.
And THE pencil was TOWARD THE ONE, and ONE was the pencil.
Now, my INTENDED meaning is that in the beginning I always used a specific pencil, and the pencil was the PREFERED ONE, and now, “A” pencil is one that I will use.
In other words, the Greek word “theos” in John 1:1(b) is a definite noun referring to THE ALMIGHTY God because it has the definite article “the” in the Greek text before the noun “theos”.
But in John 1:1(c), the third phrase, there is not a definite article before the Greek word “theos”.
And thus, it must be interpreted as to whether the Greek word “theos” in John 1:1(c) was INTENDED to mean “a” god or if it was intended to mean the Almighty God.
For you see, WITHOUT the definite article “the” before the Greek word “theos”, then it cannot be demanded that John 1:1(c) refers to EITHER the Almighty God OR a god under and subject to the Almighty God.
And that is why the Coptic translation of the Bible is so important.
For you see, the Coptic language has BOTH the definite article AND the indefinite article like the English language.
Here is the Coptic translation of John 1:1(c) from the 1911 publication, which is obviously a copy.
For there are no original manuscripts in ANY language. And thus, ALL manuscripts are copies made from the original manuscripts.
1911: “and [a] God was the word” – The Coptic Version of the New Testament in the Southern Dialect, by George William Horner.[43]
So then, as you can see, the King James Version is not the ONLY translation of the Bible.
The next excerpt is from the Verse Study on John 1:1 The Word is Not Jesus! The Word BECAME Jesus!
Again, I encourage you to read the whole study, because this is just a sample of what Trinitarian Christians are not being taught by their pastors in their own church denomination of Trinitarianism.
My point is that there are other POSSIBLE and VALID translations of John 1:1, such as the LITERAL translation from the Textus Receptus that I use as one of my resources to study the Bible.
Now, while I agree with the translation made by the Jehovah’s Witnesses concerning John 1:1(c), I do NOT AGREE with the REST of the New World Translation.
For example, the NWT translates John 1:2 as “This one was in the beginning with God” instead of “The SAME was TOWARD the God in the beginning.”
And thus, Christians can be misled to wrongly believe that a God was WITH the God in the very beginning in the eternity past.
And that is NOT the God INTENDED meaning of the Gospel of John.
Plus, they WRONGLY translated the Word as being a Divine being who was with God in the eternity past.
And thus, that misleads some Christians to wrongly believe that Jesus is the CREATOR of the entire universe.
Again, I highly DISAGREE with the NWT, except for John 1:1(c).
For you see, even though there are many errors in the New World Translation, we cannot dismiss the translation of John 1:1(c) in the NWT, which says, “and the word was a god”.
And the reason that I say this is because that is exactly what was FULFILLED from the prophecies in the Scriptures.
Is not Almighty God the Father clearly defined as being the God of Jesus all through the New Testament?
Yes! Jesus is absolutely a God under and subject to his God and Father.
So again, I want you to read the quote that I found on another website and TRULY consider that ALL Christians believe in the DEITY of Jesus, but we have not all come into the UNITY of the FAITH of the Apostles of Jesus into the KNOWLEDGE of the Son of God UNTO a PERFECT MAN, according to the Apostle Paul in Ephesians 4:13.
In other words, according to Hebrews 2:9, God MADE His HUMAN Son PERFECT through the things he SUFFERED.
And by the word “PREFECT” the God intended meaning is that God made the Son of MAN, Jesus, COMPLETE by giving him the Divine NATURE of IMMORTALITY after the cross and resurrection.
So, to me, the evidence from the Scriptures clearly teaches us that a MAN BECAME a God under and subject to his God for the purpose of JUDGING the angels.
And the SAME GLORY that God gave to Jesus, Jesus has promised to give to us, according to John 17:22-26.
Here is one more except from the study in John 1:1, John 1:1 The Word is Not Jesus! The Word BECAME Jesus!
Now, with this UNDERSTANDING that the Greek word “theos” has MORE than just the ONE meaning, then do not allow EITHER side to dogmatically demand that John 1:1(c) MUST mean and there is no other POSSIBLE meaning.
For you see, the Trinitarian side of the argument is that John 1:1(c) MUST without fail mean that the Word was THE Almighty God Himself.
But yet, other verses of Scripture clearly identify the Father as being God, according to John 17:1-3, 1 Corinthians 8:6 and many other verses of Scripture.
And thus, the “Biblical Unitarian” side argues that God is ONE being in ONE person who ALONE is the Father.
But yet, SOME unitarian Christians, like the Oneness Pentecostal Christians and the Jehovah’s Witnesses, they also wrongly teach that Jesus is the Creator who created the entire universe in the eternity past.
So, to me, I believe that the Biblical Unitarian Christians have the CORRECT understanding of Jesus, according to what the Bible ITSELF teaches us in SIMPLICITY.
The Son of MAN, Jesus, was made in the IMAGE of THE Almighty God to SHOW or to declare to us the NATURE and the character of the ONLY TRUE God who alone is the Father.”

And to me, the truth concerning who Jesus TRULY is, according to the Bible ITSELF, is the Biblical Unitarian view of Jesus.
Once Christians, Jews, Muslims, and even atheists understand the REASON that Yahweh CREATED the Son of MAN, Jesus, was to have DOMINION over the work of Yahweh’s hands.
And after you understand that the REASON that Yahweh did that is to STILL His ENEMIES, Satan and the fallen angels.
Then you can understand that God made His human Son to become “a” Lord, “a” King, and “a” God, under and subject to his God and Father in order to JUDGE Satan and the fallen angels.
