D-12. Was Jesus BEGOTTEN in the ETERNITY PAST?
When was Jesus BEGOTTEN? Was Jesus begotten in the eternity past before God created the Universe? Did Jesus create the Universe? Did God create the Universe by Jesus? What does the Bible itself teach us in the light of the whole word of Almighty God.
Let us begin this study in God’s word by reading the meanings of the Greek word “prototokos” and then we will read a few verses of Scripture to see how the Greek word “prototokos” is used in the Bible.

As you can clearly see the Greek word “prototokos” means first born, firstbegotten, and firstborn as a compound word like firstbegotten which cloud be written as first begotten and still mean the same thing. We all know and agree that the word “first” means the BEGINNING of something and the word “born” and “begotten” mean to come into existence for the first time. Luke says that Jesus was the firstborn Son of the Virgin Mary but was the virgin birth of Jesus the VERY FIRST time that Jesus was begotten? The very purpose of this study in God’s word is to see WHEN Jesus was made in the IMAGE of the invisible God to become the FIRSTBORN of every creature? In other words, WHEN does the Bible ITSELF teach us that the Son of God was BEGOTTEN by God?
#1. Was the Son of God begotten in the eternity past?
#2. Was the Son of God begotten at the virgin birth to be born of a woman as the Son of man?
#3. Was the Son of man begotten again by God?
Let us begin by reading Revelation 1:15.
Revelation 1:15.
“And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful WITNESS, and the FIRST BEGOTTEN of the DEAD, (G4416 prototokos which also means FIRSTBORN) and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,”
Here we can clearly see with no interpretation needed that the words “FIRST BEGOTTEN” means, without fail, that Jesus Christ was BEGOTTEN from the DEAD, and that Jesus was the FIRST to be born from the dead or resurrected from the dead never to die again. Now let us read Hebrews 1:5,6 where we can see that the FIRSTBEGOTTEN Son of God was BEGOTTEN BY God on a specific DAY.
Hebrews 1:5,6.
“For unto which of the angels said he at any time, You are my Son, THIS DAY have I BEGOTTEN you? And again, I WILL BE to him a Father, and he SHALL BE to me a Son?
6, And again, when he brings in the FIRSTBEGOTTEN (G4416 prototokos which also means FIRSTBORN) into the world, he says, And let all the angels of God worship him.”
So again, was that DAY that the Son of God was BEGOTTEN the first day in the eternity past and then the ONLY begotten Son of God was sent down from heaven into the earth to be made FLESH as some Christians sincerely believe and teach? Well, let us see what the Bible ITSELF clearly teaches us in the LIGHT of the WHOLE word of Almighty God.
First of all, notice that the word “BEGOTTEN” is translated from a different Greek word, the Greek word “gennao” which means to procreate, be born, and conceive, but it ALSO means to REGENERATE. To be DELIVERED from something, and to MAKE or to create. Here is how E-Sword defines the Greek word “gennao” Strong’s number G1080.

Now, the CONTEXT Of Hebrews 1:5 teaches us that God will bring His FIRSTBEGOTTEN into the world AGAIN and ALL the angels shall worship him. In other words, BOTH the good angels AND the FALLEN angels, as in, EVERY angel will bow their knee and worship God’s Son at the name of Jesus and also EVERY angel will confess that Jesus is Lord TO the glory OF Almighty God the Father, according to Philippians 2:8-11. The reason that I say that EVERY angel will bow their knee and worship God’s Son at the name of Jesus and also EVERY angel will confess that Jesus is Lord TO the glory OF Almighty God the Father is because Satan and the FALLEN angels are being JUDGED by the LIFE of the Son of MAN, Jesus, according to Acts 17:29-31.
Today, I saw for the first time that Hebrews 1:7 could very well be speaking of the FALLEN angels who joined with Lucifer to rebel and make WAR against God and God will make Satan and the fallen angels a BLASE of FIRE on the final Day of Judgment. Let us go ahead and read Hebrews 1:7 which is part of the CONTEXT of Hebrews 1:5,6 which we just read where God will bring His firstbegotten into the world again to JUDGE the angels by being God’s WITNESS against the bad angels.
Hebrews 1:3-8.
“Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image OF His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
4. Being MADE so much better than the angels, as he has BY inheritance OBTAINED a more excellent NAME than they. (And it will be AT that NAME which the Son of MAN, Jesus OBTAINED or was GIVEN TO him by Almighty God the Father AFTER the cross because OF his OBEDIENCE unto death even the death on the cross, according to Philippians 2:8-11, that EVERY knee will bow, including the Satan and his angel on the final Day of Judgment right before the BAD angels will be cast alive into the Lake of Fire to be made a FLAME or a BLAZE of fire, according to Hebrews 1:7; Jude 1:6,7; Matthew 25:41; and Revelation 20:10)
5. For unto which of the angels said He at any time, You are my Son, THIS DAY have I BEGOTTEN you? (To be MADE in my express IMAGE so much better than the angels, according the context in the verses 3 and 4 above which we just read. And I have GIVEN you a more excellent NAME than the angels that is ABOVE EVERY other NAME, according to Philippians 2:8-11) And again, (Or in another prophecy) I WILL BE to him a Father, and he SHALL to me a Son? (This one verse alone should be enough to prove beyond any shadow of a doubt the the Son of God was NOT begotten in the eternity past as some Christians sincerely but WRONGLY teach. Think this through for yourself, why would God PROPHESY in Psalm 2:6-8 that God shall SET His King upon His Holy hill and then His King will declare that Yahweh said unto me, “you are my Son, THIS DAY have I BEGOTTEN you. So ask of me, and I shall give you the heathen for your INHERITANCE, and the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession? And why would God PROPHESY again in other verses in the Old Testament that He WILL BE a Father to him and he SHALL BE a Son to Him, if son be, that the Son of God was BEGOTTEN in the eternity past as some Christians wrongly INTERPRET the words, “begotten”, “firstborn”, and firstbegotten to mean? See the prophecies of God BECOMING a Father to His Messiah, and His Messiah BECOMING a Son to God found in 2Samuel 7:14; 1 Chronicles 17:13; 1 Chronicles 22:10; 1 Chronicles 28:6; and Psalm 89:26-27)
6. And again, (Speaking of the second coming of Jesus) when He brings in the FIRSTBEGOTTEN into the world, He says, And let all the angels of God worship him. (Now, if so be, that the Son of God was begotten in the eternity past as God the Son, the second person of a Godhead Trinity Godhead and God the Son was made FLESH, as opposed to the word being made flesh, then would not the angels have already worshiped the Son of God in the eternity past? The CONTEXT is speaking about the Son of MAN, Jesus, being made in the IMAGE OF God to be MADE so much BETTER than the angels and OBTAINING a more excellent NAME than the angels AFTER the cross BY INHERITANCE, according to Philippians 2:8-11, and Colossians 2:15,18 which we will read right after this passage of Scripture. And one of the reasons that the Son of God was MANIFESTED is to destroy the works of Satan, the Devil. Know you know that WE shall JUDGE the angels along WITH Jesus, the faithful WITNESS?)
7. And of the angels He says, Who makes his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. (Or a BLAZE of fire on the final Day of Judgment)
8. BUT unto the Son He says, Your throne, O God, is for ever and ever: (Or for an age to an age speaking of the FIRST DOMINION prophesied in Micah 2: which is referring to the 1000 year reign of Jesus in the world to come as Yahweh’s King that He SET to be His King, according to Psalm 2:1-7 when His God will rule RIGHTEOUSLY and NOT like Lucifer ruled before God restored or re-created the earth after it became void and no longer habitable during the WAR against God waged by Lucifer and one third of the angels, So God prophesied saying, unto His Son, your throne O God is for an age to an age) a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of your kingdom.
9. You have loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; THEREFORE, (Or for the very REASON that you have loved RIGHTEOUSNESS and hated sin) God, even your God, has ANOINTED you with the oil of gladness ABOVE your fellows.”
Keep in mind the first verse of Scripture that we read in Revelation 1:5 which teaches us that the Son of MAN, Jesus, is God’s faithful WITNESS, the FIRST one of his FELLOWS to be BEGOTTEN from the DEAD. And Revelation 3:14 teaches us that Jesus is the FAITHFUL and TRUE WITNESS who is the BEGINNING OF the CREATION Of God.
Revelation 3:14.
“And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things says the Amen, the FAITHFUL and TRUE WITNESS, the BEGINNING OF the creation OF God;”
What creation is Jesus referring to here in Revelation 3:14? There are TWO creations of God.
#1. There was God’s creation of man made in the IMAGE of God in Genesis 1:26,26. However, then man FELL from the GLORY that God prepared for man to eat of the tree of LIFE. In other words, after Adam sinned then sin entered the world and death passed upon all men because all men have SINNED at some point in their life. And thus, all have FALLEN short of the glory of God and we all need to be saved or placed back in the IMAGE of God.
#2. Then there is God’s NEW creation or His NEW CREATURES being made in the IMAGE of His Son, Jesus Christ. But first, God needed to make His human Son, Jesus, in the IMAGE of the invisible God’s PERSON of character being made PERFECT even as his God and Father is PERFECT. And by Jesus OVERCOMING the enemy, Satan, the Devil, the anointed Son of MAN, Jesus, BECAME the true and faithful WITNESS, the BEGINNING of the NEW creation of God’s NEW REGENERATED creatures by becoming the FIRSTBORN from the DEAD, according to Revelation 3:14 in the LIGHT of Revelation 1:5 and Colossians 2:18.
Now let us read Colossians 1:18 where we see that Jesus is the FIRSTBORN from the DEAD to become the BEGINNING of the church that is called the general assembly and the church of the FIRSTBORN in Hebrews 12:23.
Colossians 1:18-20.
“And he is the head of the body, the church: (Or God ANOINTED Jesus to be ABOVE his FELLOWS) who is the BEGINNING, the FIRSTBORN from the DEAD; (The FIRST to be resurrected and REGENERATED to never die again to BECOME the FIRSTBORN of every CREATURE, the FIRSTBORN among many BRETHREN who are being conformed in the IMAGE of God’s dear Son) that in all things he might have the preeminence.
19. For it pleased the Father that IN him should all fulness dwell; (So then, the FULNESS of the Godhead did not dwell in Jesus UNTIL AFTER Jesus became the FIRSTBORN from the DEAD to be HIGHLY EXALTED and GIVEN a NEW NAME that is more EXCELLENT than the angels and ABOVE every of other name except for Almighty God the Father’s name)
20. And, having made peace through the blood of His CROSS, by him to reconcile ALL things unto Himself; by him, I say, whether they be THE (ALL of whosever BELIEVES who endure unto the end to remain faithful WITNESSES) in earth, or THE (ALL of whosever BELIEVES who died and are now with our Lord) in heaven.”
I fully understand that the KIng James Version translates the Greek word “pas” as all “things” but the English word “things” was added by the translators. And the Greek word translate as “things” actually means THE. Now what THINGS that are IN heaven need to be RECONCILED to God by the death of God’s Messiah Jesus on the cross? Can you not see how the translators have BLURRED to true sound Biblical meaning of this passage of Scripture in Colossians 1:15-20? If not, then I implore you to read the study “WHAT DOES COLOSSIANS 1:15-20 TRULY MEAN?” But for now, let us read Colossians 1:15 that teaches us that Jesus is the FIRSTBORN of EVERY CREATURE.
Colossians 1:12-15.
“Giving thanks unto the Father, which has made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: (So the CONTEXT of verse 15 is about the ALL of WHOSEVER BELIEVES to be made the righteousness of God through FAITH in Jesus so that we might be made partakers of the INHERITANCE of the saints along WITH Jesus)
13. Who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son:
14. In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
15. Who is the image of the invisible God, the FIRSTBORN of every CREATURE:”
Now is Almighty God a CREATURE? Here is how E-Sword defines the Greek word “ktisis” that is translated as CREATURE.

Now, this SAME Greek word is used in 1 Corinthians 5:16-21, Galatians 6:15, and Revelation 3:14. Let is go ahead and read those verses of Scripture.
1 Corinthians 5:16-21.
“Wherefore, henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. (In other words, AFTER the cross and resurrection of the on of MAN, Jesus, we know Jesus NO MORE after the FLESH as he was DURING the days of his FLESH, according to Hebrews 5:9. But NOW we know Jesus as the ONLY BEGOTTEN Son from the DEAD never to die again)
2Co 5:17 Therefore, (Or for this very reason that we KNOW Jesus no more after the flesh never to die again) if any man be IN Christ, he is a NEW CREATURE: old things are passed away; behold, all things (Or the ALL of whosoever BELIEVES in Jesus) are become new.
18. And all things (Or the ALL of whosoever BELIEVES) are OF God, (Becoming God’s CREATION of NEW CREATURES created IN Jesus Christ, the FIRSTBORN of every CREATION, who is the BEGINNING OF the CREATION OF GOD) who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19. To wit, that God was IN Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and has committed unto us the word of reconciliation. (There is a difference between Jesus Christ BEFORE the cross fro Jesus Christ AFTER the cross. And that is why I highlighted Christ AFTER the cross in light blue and the Christ BEFORE the cross in yellow)
20. Now then we are ambassadors FOR Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be you reconciled to God.
21. For He has made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God IN him.”
In other words, just as the Son of MAN, Jesus, was an AMBASSADOR for his God and Father, we are NOW made ambassadors FOR Jesus in the STEAD or in the place of Jesus as the BODY OF Jesus, the CHURCH of the FIRSTBORN from the DEAD.
Galatians 6:15.
“For IN Christ Jesus neither circumcision avails any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a NEW CREATURE.”
In other words, both Jews and Gentiles who BELIEVE IN Jesus as the Christ, the Son OF the living God and that God resurrected him from the dead never to die again are CREATE IN Jesus Christ to become NEW CREATURES. And Jesus is the FIRSTBORN of EVERY CREATURE to be made in the EXPRESS IMAGE of his God and Father. So right now, in this present world, Jesus is the ONLY BEGOTTEN Son of God among many BRETHREN.
Revelation 3:14.
“And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things says the Amen, the FAITHFUL and TRUE WITNESS, the BEGINNING OF the creation OF God;”
So then, the true sound Biblical meaning of Revelation 3:14 is that Jesus BECAME the faithful and true WITNESS after the cross and resurrection from the DEAD. In other words, the Son of MAN, Jesus BECAME the BEGINNING of God’s CREATION of righteous humans created IN Jesus Christ to become NEW CREATURES made in the IMAGE of God’s dear Son, Jesus. But first, God MADE the Son of MAN, Jesus, PERFECT in the IMAGE OF Himself to fulfill the PROPHECY in Genesis 1:26, “Let us make man in OUR IMAGE and after OUR LIKENESS”.
And thus, we are the WORKMANSHIP OF Almighty God the Father who created us IN His Son, Jesus, the CHRIST whom He MADE both Lord and Christ after the cross, according to Ephesians 2:10 and Acts 2:36. In other words, Jesus and us who believe in Jesus are the fulfillment of PROPHECY of God CREATING a new people in the future and God’s NEW CREATION began with His HUMAN ANOINTED Son, Jesus, the spoken word of PROPHECY made flesh.
Please read Psalm 102:18.
“This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which SHALL BE created shall praise the LORD.”
There is not one prophecy of a God the Son coming down from heaven to manifest himself in the flesh. Hebrews teaches us that Jesus did NOT glorify himself.
Hebrews 5:
“So also Christ glorified NOT himself to be made an high priest; but He that said unto him, You are my Son, TODAY have I BEGOTTEN you. (Again, the Greek word “gennao” means REGENERATED, DELIVERED from DEATH in the case of God’s human Son, Jesus, and MAKE. And this PROPHECY in Psalm 2 was FULFILLED buy God when God RESURRECTED His human Son from the dead and GAVE the Son of MAN, Jesus, to be having LIFE in himself even as the Father has always had life in Himself. 6. As he said also in another place, You are a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
7. Who in the days of his FLESH, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to SAVE (Or to DELIVER) him from death, and was heard in that he FEARED; (But the Son of MAN, Jesus submitted his own will to the will of his God and Father to lay down his own life or his own free will to suffer and die on the cross for the sins of the entire world)
8. Though he were a Son, (Or though he was God’s HUMAN Son in DAYS of his FLESH) yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
9. And BEING MADE PERFECT, he BECAME the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
10. Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
Warning Against Apostasy
11. Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.
12. For when for the time you ought to be teachers, you have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
13. For every one that uses milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
14. But strong meat belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”
The word “evil” here means injurious or hurtful and some false teaching can HURT or hundred the faith of a believer to not live his or her life to the INTEND level of faith that God desires us all to live. And I believe that the teaching that Jesus IS Almighty God Himself in the flesh has hindered the church from walking in its FULL POTENTIAL to do the SAME works the Jesus did THROUGH the Eternal Spirit dwelling IN him during the days of his flesh beginning at his baptism by John the Baptist. Once Christians, Jews, Muslims, and even atheists understand the REASON that Yahweh CREATED the Son of MAN, Jesus, was to have DOMINION over the work of Yahweh’s hands.
And after you understand that the REASON that Yahweh did that is to STILL His ENEMIES, Satan and the fallen angels.
Then you can understand that God made His human Son to become “a” Lord, “a” King, and “a” God, under and subject to his God and Father in order to JUDGE Satan and the fallen angels.
