***What Does John 3:31 TRULY mean?
Here is John 3:31 from the KJV. “He that comes from ABOVE is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaks of the earth: he that comes from HEAVEN is above all.”
The CONTEXT of what John the Baptist is referring to is the BRIDEGROOM, who is coming from above, and the bridegroom is of the earth.
Then John says, that one over there who is speaking, he is the one who is coming from HEAVEN as the bridegroom.
In other words, that one, speaking of Jesus, he is the Christ, the one prophesied in Proverbs 30:4 who shall ascend up into heaven and then shall be descending again as the BRIDEGROOM coming for his BRIDE.
And whosoever believes in the Son of God shall receive eternal life at the coming of the bridegroom.
And those who do not believe that Jesus is the Son of God shall the wrath of God come upon.

Jesus BECAME God’s ETERNAL Son After the Cross!
In other words, what does the phrase “God SENT His Son INTO the world” TRULY mean in the LIGHT of the WHOLE word of Almighty God.
In the three previous chapters, 5 through 7, we covered the verses of Scripture used by Trinitarian church TRADITION to try to prove that Almighty God the Father SENT God the Son DOWN from heaven INTO the world to become FLESH.
And we have learned that every one of those verses of Scripture was taken OUT of the CONTEXT and that traditional Trinitarian “interpretation” was READ INTO those verses of Scripture.
And here in chapter 8, we will go a little deeper in the word of God and look up the actual meanings of the different Greek words that have been “translated” as SENT in the PAST tenses, when at times the Greek word “SENT” should have been translated as SENDING in the PRESENT tense.
For you see, to me, it is misleading to say Jesus was SENT in the past tense, when God INTENDED the meaning to be that God was SENDING Jesus by the leading of His Holy Spirit.
And at other times the more correct translation should have been “sent OUT” into the world as to NOT MISLEAD Christians to wrongly believe that God sent His Son DOWN from heaven INTO the EARTH.
Now, church TRADITION teaches only ONE SIDE of the issue, which is THEIR OWN personal INTERPRETATION of the Scriptures.
And when Christians, brought up in church denominations that teach their OWN church TRADITIONS, then that is usually all those Christians ever hear, their OWN church denominational understanding of the Scriptures.
And that is why I teach my readers to search the Scriptures for THEMSELVES to see if what they have been taught agrees with the WHOLE word of Almighty God.
Now, in this one chapter we cannot possibly cover all 191 verses of Scripture with the word “sent” in them.
So, what I will do is at the end of this chapter is, I list the Scripture references of all the verses with the word “SENT” in them that are used by Trinitarian Christians to try to prove that a so-called God the Son was sent DOWN from heaven to become flesh.
But first, I want to teach you the OTHER SIDE of this highly controversial issue concerning HOW the Son of God was SENT, according to the context of each passage of Scripture.
Let us begin with the words of Jesus in John 17:18. which teaches us HOW God SENT His Son INTO the world.
John 17:16-19.
“They are NOT of the world, EVEN AS I am NOT of the world.
John 17:17. Sanctify them through YOUR truth: Your word is truth.
John 17:18. As You have SENT me into the world, EVEN so have I ALSO SENT them into the world. (So then, in the SAME way that Almighty God SENT His Son INTO the world, is the SAME way that Jesus SENT his disciples INTO the world.
And Jesus did NOT send his disciples DOWN from heaven INTO the earth.
So then, neither did Almighty God send His pre-existing God the Son DOWN from heaven INTO the earth to be incarnated in the flesh, as you will see as you continue reading this chapter and the rest of this book 10)
John 17:19. And for their sake I SANCTIFY myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.”
Now, if the Trinitarian church TRADITION, which says an Almighty God the Son came down from heaven and took on human nature is true, then WHY would an already Holy God need to SANCTIFY or purify himself?
For you see, Almighty God Himself can NOT even be TEMPTED with evil, according to James 1:13.
So clearly, Jesus is NOT Almighty God Himself in the flesh as church TRADITION wrongly teaches.
So then, HOW did Jesus SEND his disciples INTO the world? For you see, the way that Jesus SENT his disciple is the SAME WAY in which God sent His Son into the world, according to John 20:21,22!
Please read John 20:21,22.
“Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: As my Father has SENT me, EVEN so send I you. (Again, we see that in the SAME WAY that the Father SENT His Son INTO the world is the SAME WAY that Jesus SENT his disciples INTO the world AFTER the cross and resurrection)
John 20:22. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said unto them, Receive you the Holy Ghost:”
But they did not ACTUALLY receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, until the Day of Pentecost had fully come.
That is why Jesus instructed his disciples to tarry or to wait in Jerusalem, UNTIL they were ENDUED with POWER from on high, according to Luke 24:49.
Here is how the concordance in E-Sword defines the Greek word “apostellō” that is TRANSLATED as SENT in the King James Version of the Bible. The emphasis is mine.
G649
ἀποστέλλω
apostellō
ap-os-tel'-lo
From G575 and G4724; set apart, that is, (by implication) to SEND OUT (properly on a mission) literally or figuratively: - put in, send (away, forth, out), set [at liberty].
Total KJV occurrences: 133.
So then, God sent OUT His HUMAN Son INTO the world AFTER ANOINTING the Son of MAN, Jesus with the Holy Spirit and POWER, according to Acts 10:38.
And thus, God was WITH His Son by dwelling in His human Son, according to 2 Corinthians 5:16-21.
Almighty God was in His Son doing the works or reconciling the world THROUGH His ANOINTED human Son, according to John 14:10-13.
For you see, the Son could do NOTHING of himself, according to John 5:19.
Jesus said that we can do the SAME works that he did in John 14:10-13.
Now, if Jesus did those works as Almighty God Himself in the flesh as church TRADITION claims, then HOW could we do the SAME works that Jesus did through the Eternal Spirit dwelling in him?
For you see, we are NOT Almighty God Himself. BUT Almighty God DOES dwell in our FLESH the same as He dwelt in the flesh of Jesus during the DAYS of his FLESH, according to Hebrews 5:7-9 and Hebrews 9:14,15.
Yes, you heard me correctly. Jesus did not receive the FULLNESS of the Godhead dwelling in him bodily until AFTER the cross and resurrection.
And at the baptism by John the Baptist, Jesus was anointed with a PARTIAL anointing, which the Bible calls the “earnest” of the Spirit in 2 Corinthians 1:22 and 2 Corinthians 5:5.
The second word “SEND” that Jesus used in John 20:21 was translated from the Greek word “pempō”.
Jesus said, the SAME as the Father SENT me, so I SEND you. Thus, the Greek word for sent and the Greek word for send have the same meaning.
In other words, the Son being SENT by God does not dogmatically mean that a God the Son was sent down from heaven to be incarnated into flesh as church TRADITION claims and even dogmatically demands.
Here is how the concordance in E-Sword defines that Greek word. Again, the emphasis is mine.
G3992
πέμπω
pempō
pem'-po
Apparently a primary verb; to dispatch (from the subjective view or point of departure, whereas ἵημι hiēmi [as a stronger form of εἶμι eimi] refers rather to the objective point or terminus ad quem, and G4724 denotes properly the orderly motion involved), especially on a temporary errand; also to transmit, bestow, or wield: - send, thrust in.
Total KJV occurrences: 81.
In other words, Jesus sent his disciples OUT into the world AFTER they were ENDUED with POWER that was transmitted or BESTOWED upon them from HEAVEN.
And God SENT His HUMAN Son OUT into the world AFTER He ANOINTED the Son of MAN, Jesus with the Holy Spirit and POWER.
Here is the first time that the Greek word “pempō” is used in the Gospel of John.
Notice that BOTH Greek words are used INTERCHANGEABLY with each other.
In other words, the Greek word “pempō” has the SAME meaning as the Greek word “apostellō” when speaking of the SAME group of people on the SAME event of them being SENT.
John 1:19-22.
“And this is the record of John, when the Jews SENT (G649 apostellō) priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who are you?
John 1:20. And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.
John 1:21. And they asked him, What then? Are you Elias? And he said, I am not. Are you that prophet? And he answered, No.
John 1:22. Then they said unto him, Who are you? That we may give an answer to them that SENT (G3992 pempō) us. What do you say of yourself?”
So you can see how BOTH Greek words mean the SAME thing and how they do NOT dogmatically mean sent DOWN from heaven.
And if the translators would have translated both Greek words as sent OUT into the world then it would not MISLEAD Christians to wrongly believe that God sent DOWN His ETERNAL divine Son from HEAVEN.
And here is the first time the Greek word “apostellō”, Strong’s number G649, is used in the Gospel of John when being SENT FROM God.
John 1:6.
“There was a man SENT FROM God, whose name was John.”
So then, even when being SENT FROM God, the Greek word itself does NOT dogmatically mean that who was SENT FROM God must have been sent DOWN FROM HEAVEN.
Clearly, God did NOT send John the Baptist DOWN FROM HEAVEN.
Now, John 3:17 is probably one of the most widely used verses of Scripture to try to prove that God sent His Son DOWN from heaven.
This church TRADITION has been “parroted” so much without THINKING about the CONTEXT that Trinitarian Christians simply read INTO the word “sent” as meaning God sent DOWN His Son from heaven.
So, let us go ahead and read that verse left in its CONTEXT even though we have already covered this passage of Scripture in a previous chapter.
John 3:16-18.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave His ONLY BEGOTTEN Son, (And, according to the man-made doctrine of the Trinity, God the Son had no BEGINNING.
But the Bible ITSELF says that God GAVE His ONLY BEGOTTEN Son or His only BORN , speaking of the CHILD born of a WOMAN and NOT some so-called Son BORN in the eternity past like the Jehovah’s Witnesses CLAIM.
In other words, God’s INTENDED meaning is that He gave His HUMAN Son BORN of the Virgin Mary, by being CONCEIVED of the Holy Spirit, according to Matthew 1:20 and Luke 1:26-28.
But this verse could also be translated as God so loved the world that He RECEIVED His only BEGOTTEN Son, as is, His first begotten Son from the DEAD) THAT whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:17. For God sent not (Or more correctly, God did NOT SEND OUT, when it is CORRECTLY translated from G649 apostellō) His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:18. He that believes in him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the NAME of the ONLY BEGOTTEN Son of God.”
Some Christians read right over the NAME of the only begotten Son, because they ASSUME it means the name “JESUS”.
And that is because church TRADITION does NOT teach the WHOLE word of Almighty God.
Thus, some Christians have no clue that God GAVE the Son of MAN, Jesus, a NEW NAME after the cross and resurrection that is ABOVE every other name, according to Philippians 2:8-11 and Revelation 3:12.
Now, another verse of Scripture used by Trinitarian church TRADITION to try to prove that the Son of God was sent DOWN from heaven into the earth is John 3:31.
Let us read it OUT of CONTEXT first, because that is the way church TRADITION “interprets” select verses of Scripture to try to prove that the Son was SENT DOWN from heaven ABOVE and BECAME flesh.
John 3:31.
“He that comes from ABOVE is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaks of the earth: he that comes from HEAVEN is above all.”
Again, I have said many times, any verse when viewed ALONE and apart from the REST of God’s word, may SEEM to be saying something that it is NOT TRULY saying, when it is CORRECTLY interpreted in the LIGHT of the WHOLE word of Almighty God.
So, let us now read verse 31 being LEFT in its CONTEXT.
Please read John 3:31-34.
“He that COMES (As in, the highly exalted Son of MAN, Jesus is COMING) from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaks of the earth: (Or more correctly translated from the LITERAL word for word translation.
“The one from above is COMING over all is the ONE being OUT of the EARTH. Out of the earth is the one speaking of”) he that comes from heaven is above all. (For you see, the context that John is speaking of is the coming of the BRIDEGROOM for his BRIDE)
John 3:32. And what he has seen and heard, that he testifies; and no man receives his testimony. (In other words, what Jesus has seen and heard from the Father dwelling in him, THAT is what John is testifying ABOUT, the RETURN of Jesus and no one is receiving John’s WITNESS of Jesus going to be OVER ALL)
John 3:33. He that has received his testimony has set to his seal that God is true. (Or we who BELIEVE that the highly exalted GLORIFIED Son of MAN, Jesus is COMING from HEAVEN to be OVER ALL the earth then we attest that God is TRUE)
John 3:34. For (Or BECAUSE) he whom God has SENT (Or he whom Almighty God the Father COMMISSIONS is what I, John, HEARD from the Father when I saw the Spirit descending upon Jesus like a dove and remaining.
So, what I say concerning Jesus COMING from heaven as the BRIDEGROOM to be OVER ALL of the earth) speaks the words of God: for (Or BECAUSE) God GIVES not the Spirit by MEASURE unto him.”
Again, God did not give Jesus the FULLNESS of Deity until after the cross and resurrection.
Please read the study called N-8. Jesus, the FULLNESS of the GODHEAD BODILY!
Now, I want you to truly CONSIDER that if God SENT His so-called FULLY God the Son DOWN FROM HEAVEN to BECOME the Son of God, then WHY would God GIVE the Son the Spirit without MEASURE?
Does not the doctrine of the Trinity state that Jesus is FULLY God?
But yet, Jesus himself said that the SON could do NOTHING of himself in John 5:19,30!
And that means that the human Son of God was GIVEN the FULNESS of the Godhead AFTER the cross and resurrection, because that is when it please the Father.
So, John the Baptist is speaking of the yet FUTURE COMING of Jesus from HEAVEN and NOT that a so-called pre-existing God the Son came from ABOVE as Trinitarian church TRADITION claims John 3:31 means.
Here is another verse of Scripture that some Trinitarian Christians use to try to prove that God SENT His Son DOWN FROM HEAVEN to become flesh.
John 7:29.
“But I know Him: for I am FROM Him, and He has SENT me.”
Now, the LITERAL understanding of this verse is that the Son of MAN, Jesus, PERCEIVES from God a revelation that he shall be BESIDE God, and that is the reason that God COMMISSIONED him.
Then in verse 33, Jesus tells them that in a little while he is GOING to the one who SENT or the one SENDING him “to the cross”.
One of the meanings of the Greek word “para” means FROM BESIDE.
And some Trinitarian church TRADITION “interprets” the words “WITH” the Father to mean that Jesus is saying that God SENT the Son who was BESIDE the Father DOWN from heaven.
But, in TRUTH, the Son of MAN, Jesus, is saying that he PERCEIVED or he DISCERNED that he was COMMISSIONED to be BESIDE the Father and that he would live forever.
This one Greek word could be an entire study in and of itself, but for now, let me briefly show you what I mean.
Let us read John 8:38 OUT of its CONTEXT, because again, that is the WAY in which church TRADITION uses verses of Scripture to try to prove that Jesus is Almighty God Himself in the flesh.
John 8:38.
“I speak that which I have SEEN WITH my Father: and you do that which you have seen with your father.”
Now, this verse of Scripture can be “interpreted” several different ways.
But Trinitarian TRADITION “interprets” these words to mean that Jesus teaches that which he had SEEN in the eternity past when he was BESIDE the Father.
Others interpret these words to mean that Jesus SAW things while he was with the Father in PRAYER and I believe that is the God INTENDED meaning of these words of Jesus.
But I would like to go a little deeper in the word by looking up the Greek word translated as “WITH” the Father.
It is used TWICE in this one verse of Scripture. Here is how the concordance in E-Sword defines the Greek word “para”.
G3844
παρά
para
par-ah'
A primary preposition; properly NEAR, that is, (with genitive case) from beside (literally or figuratively), (with dative case) at (or in) the vicinity of (objectively or subjectively), (with accusative case) to the proximity with (local [especially beyond or opposed to] or causal [on account of]). In compounds it retains the same variety of application: - above, against, among, at, before, by, contrary to, X friend, from, + give [such things as they], + that [she] had, X his, in, more than, nigh unto, (out) of, past, save, side . . . by, in the sight of, than, [there-] fore, with. In compounds it retains the same variety of application.
Total KJV occurrences: 198.
We also need to know and understand that the Greek word “horao” that is translated as “SEEN” literally means to DISCERN and to PERCEIVE as opposed to seeing with the physical eye.
So then, according to the CONTEXT in this verse where Jesus says the Son will abide FOREVER, Jesus is talking about what he has PERCEIVED in the Scriptures about himself.
In other words, the PROPHECIES in the Scriptures testify of Jesus and Jesus being seated at the right hand of his God and Father.
And thus, Jesus is saying that he DISCERNED that he is going to LIVE FOREVER and go to be BESIDE the Father.
And that ruffled the feathers of the unbelieving Jews to the point that they wanted to kill Jesus.
John 8:35-45.
“And the servant abides not in the house for ever: but the Son abides ever. (Or the Son lives forever in the house of Yahweh)
John 8:36. If the Son, therefore, shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.
John 8:37. I know that you are Abraham's seed; but you seek to kill me, because my word has no place in you.
John 8:38. I speak that which I have seen with my Father: (Or I TEACH that which I have DISCERNED or PERCEIVED on ACCOUNT of my Father dwelling in me) and you do that which you have seen with your father. (Or you do that which you have DISCERNED or PERCEIVED on the ACCOUNT of your father. And Jesus is implying that their father is the Devil)
John 8:39. They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus said unto them, If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham.
John 8:40. But now you seek to kill me, a man that has told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
John 8:41. You do the deeds of your father. Then they said to him, We are not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
John 8:42. Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, you would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but He sent me. (Or BECAUSE I ISSUED forth or I EMANATED OUT from God.
For indeed neither I came of myself, but He COMMISSIONED me.
Again, the Greek word “apostellō” means to commission.
And the word “commission” means to give power and authority to someone to accomplish the task that they are sent out to do.
And the Son of God was ANOINTED with the Holy Spirit and POWER to destroy the works of Satan, the Devil, according to 1 John 3:8)
John 8:43. Why do you not understand my speech? Even because you cannot hear my words.
John 8:44. You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
John 8:45. And because I tell you the TRUTH, you believe me not.”
As I said before, we cannot possibly cover all of the verses of Scripture with the word “sent” in them in this chapter.
But I would like to quote one more verse of Scripture. which I will explain in the next chapter, chapter 9.
John 5:37.
“And the Father Himself, which has SENT me, has borne witness of me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His SHAPE.”
Now, church TRADITION has wrongly interpreted John 5:37.
In other words, the “common” Orthodox understanding of the phrase, “no man has SEEN God at any time” is interpreted as no man has literally seen God with their “physical” eyes.
But in truth, the Greek word “eidos” that is TRANSLATED as the English word SHAPE means no man has UNDERSTOOD God’s VIEW.

And to me, the truth concerning who Jesus TRULY is, according to the Bible ITSELF, is the Biblical Unitarian view of Jesus.
Once Christians, Jews, Muslims, and even atheists understand the REASON that Yahweh CREATED the Son of MAN, Jesus, was to have DOMINION over the work of Yahweh’s hands.
And after you understand that the REASON that Yahweh did that is to STILL His ENEMIES, Satan and the fallen angels.
Then you can understand that God made His human Son to become “a” Lord, “a” King, and “a” God, under and subject to his God and Father in order to JUDGE Satan and the fallen angels.
