***What Does John 1:1 TRULY mean?
Here is John 1:1 from the KJV. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

Jesus Was RECEIVED up into Heaven to be Seated at the Right Hand of God!
Here is John 1:1 again from the LITERAL Translation of the King James Version. “In beginning was the SAYING, and the SAYING was TOWARD the God, and God was the SAYING.”
In other words, the SAYING that is TOWARD the Almighty God the Creator is God.
To say this another way is that is a BEGINNING was a prophecy of a God who was headed in the direction TOWARD being seated beside his God and Father, who APPOINTED him or decreed in the PROPHECIES in the Scriptures for him to be a God at His right hand side.
Keep in mind that this particular LITERAL translation was translated from the SAME Greek manuscripts called the Textus Receptus, which is a phrase in Latin that means the received text.
And “received text” means that the Greek manuscripts that were widely used and accepted as being what the Apostles of Jesus taught, were the manuscripts that they used the most.
And thus, those manuscripts wore out more quickly, as opposed to the manuscripts that were used less frequently.
Therefore, they needed to be copied, whereas, the lessor used manuscripts APPEAR to be older, because they were preserved from wearing out due to being used less.
So, then, according to the Apostles’ DOCTRINE, that has been translated from the Textus Receptus, teaches us that Jesus was RECEIVED up into GLORY to be seated on the throne of his God to sit beside the Father at His right hand, according to 1 Timothy 3:16, Mark 16:15-19, Luke 9:51.
And it was only after the CROSS that the Son of MAN, Jesus, who was SLAIN as an INNOCENT man that was not worthy of death, was found WORTHY by his God to RECEIVE power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing, according to Revelation 5:12, Luke 24:26,27, Matthew 28:18, Romans 1:3,4.
So then, plain and SIMPLE, it was the HUMAN Son of God, who BECAME a God to be under and subject to his God and CREATOR, after the cross and resurrection.
And thus, the first estate of Jesus was FLESH or human.
John 1:14 CLEARLY states as a fact that the SAYING was made FLESH.
This verse does not say that the saying was made flesh having two natures at the same time, one divine, and one human, during the days of his flesh, which is how Trinitarian Christians “interpret” John 1:1-18.
The Bible itself says in Hebrews 2:9.10, that God made Jesus a little lower than the Elohim, and then God CROWNED him with GLORY and honor to RECEIVE the FULLNESS of DEITY, after the cross and resurrection, according to Psalm 8:5, Acts 2:36, Colossians 1:19, and Phiippians 2:6, plus all of the verses of Scripture that I just referenced above, and many other verses, such as Hebrews 12:2,3.
Let me begin this Verse Study on John 1:1 by saying that sometimes we have to UNLEARN things that we were previously taught, because what we were taught as Trinitarian Christians, as Oneness Pentecostal Christians, as Jehovah’s Witness Christians, and as Mormon Christians is not CORRECT sound Biblical teaching.
Please understand that when someone tries to correct us, then those people genuinely care for us.
For example, let’s say that a person was taught to sharpen a carpenter’s pencil by drawing the knife blade TOWARD their body.
That means that the knife is heading in the DIRECTION toward their body as it leaves the end of the pencil.
But then, later on, another person comes along and teaches them a BETTER way to sharpen the pencil by pushing the knife blade AWAY from the body.
And then, that person explains WHY this is a BETTER way to sharpen a pencil than the way that they were PREVIOUS taught.
Understand that this teacher stepped up to CORRECT this other person’s erroneous way of sharpening a pencil, because he CARED about the person’s safety.
He did not want them to injure themselves by doing something INCORRECTLY.
And in the same way, it is my heartfelt prayer as a Bible study teacher, to teach my readers the CORRECT way to interpret and understand every single verse of Scripture in the entire Bible.
Because when a verse of Scripture is interpreted correctly, then it will AGREE with every other verse of Scripture in the Bible.
So then, one of the first things that I teach my readers is TRULY consider that they could have been taught things that the Bible itself does not actually teach.
In other words, if you are a Jehovah’s Witness, then most likely you were taught that Colossians 1:15 means, without fail, that the Son of God was the very first being that God created.
And thus, the Jehovah’s Witnesses wrongly interpret every other verse of Scripture based on their understanding of the Son of God coming into being in the eternity past before anything else was created.
So then, what some Christians have not figured out on their own is to understand that if they interpret verses of Scripture in the Bible based upon an INCORRECT understanding of John 1:1, then their WHOLE testimony of what they confess as being their FAITH, or their BELIEF, will be WRONG as well.
Let me give you another example to further explain what I mean by basing one’s faith upon their understanding of a verse of Scripture that they have INCORRECTLY interpreted.
I will endeavor to do this by briefly explaining why the Mormons have erred in their understanding of Jesus.
And thus, the Church of the Latter Day Saints, also known as the Mormons, are teaching a DIFFERENT Jesus, than the Jesus that the Bible itself actually teaches us in simplicity.
The Mormons wrongly teach that Jesus and Satan are BROTHERS.
But where did they get that understanding? Did they get their understanding of Jesus from the Bible ALONE?
No! Absolutely not. Rather, they were TAUGHT what they have come to believe by their prophet, Joseph Smith, who supposedly received “divine” revelation from God through an angel named Moroni.
And thus, the Book of Mormon was ADDED to the Bible by Joseph Smith, called ANOTHER Testament of Jesus Christ.
And the Apostle Paul CLEARLY warns us in Galatians 1:6-10 that even if an ANGEL comes to you preaching ANOTHER Gospel of Jesus, then do not believe him, and let that angel be accused.
I believe that God does indeed still REVEALS things from the Scriptures to us as Christians.
However, TRUE revelation from God will AGREE with what the Bible itself actually teaches.
In other words, all of Scripture will support what God Himself reveals to us.
But if you try to explain to a Mormon Christian that the Book of Mormon CONTRADICTS what the Bible itself ACTUALLY teaches, then some “hard-core” Mormons will dogmatically demand that other Christians do not have the WHOLE Bible.
The Mormon apologists will argue that the Book of Mormons is “Another Testament of Jesus Christ”, and thus, they reject any teaching outside or Mormonism.
However, some Mormons are indeed OPEN to hearing what other Christians have come to understand, and many of those Mormons, who truly listen to the OTHER side of the controversy, have come out of Mormonism.
In other words, those Mormons, who TRULY considered that other Christians are simply trying to help them to CORRECTLY interpret the Scriptures, are no longer Mormons.
So then, all it takes is to get any Christian and any non-Christian to truly consider that they could be WRONG.
And then, they will begin to see that they have indeed been DECEIVED by Satan.
It is Satan who has blinded their MINDS so that they can not see the GLORY that was GIVEN to the Son of MAN, Jesus, to be made in the express IMAGE of his God and Father. after the cross and resurrection, according to 2 Corinthians 4:3,4, Romans 1:3,4, Hebrews 1:3,4, and Hebrews 2:5-10.
And Revelation 12:9 clearly teaches us that Satan DECEIVES the WHOLE world.
And thus, the whole CHURCH has been deceived by Satan and his doctrines of devils, and that INCLUDES Biblical Unitarians being deceived by Satan as well.
Yes, you heard me correctly, but do not MISUNDERSTAND what I am actually saying.
Do not go and twist my words to WRONGLY say that all Biblical Unitarian Christians are false teachers, because they deny the deity of Jesus.
No, that is simply not true. All Biblical Unitarians do indeed believe in the “deity” of Jesus!
But we do not believe that Jesus always pre-existed as a second person of a Trinity Godhead, which was invented by the Roman Catholic Church.
And thus, the Orthodox church TRADITION of the doctrine of the Trinity was ADDED to the Apostles’ doctrine AFTER the last of the 12 original Apostles died.
Please know and understand that many Biblical Unitarian Christians do indeed believe in the DEITY of Jesus.
But just like every Christian during the first five centuries ALWAYS believed in the DEITY of Jesus, there was a CONTROVERSY of how Jesus was God and WHEN Jesus was God.
Here is a quote from another website explaining what the council at Chalcedon in 451 AD was all about.
“The Council of Chalcedon was called in 451 CE by the Roman Emperor Marcian (r. 450-457) to settle debates regarding the nature (hypostases, "reality") of Christ that had begun at two earlier meetings in Ephesus (431 CE and 439 CE).
The question was whether Christ was human or divine, a man who became God (through the resurrection and ascension) or God who became a man (through the incarnation, "taking on flesh"), and how his humanity and divinity affected his essence and being, if at all.”
In other words, ALL Christians at that time in history agreed that Jesus was DEITY or had divine NATURE.
But the question or DEBATE was HOW was Jesus Deity? When was Jesus Deity?
And did the Son of man become deity after the cross and resurrection?
Or did a pre-existing God become a man who remained fully God during the days of his flesh having BOTH natures at the SAME time?
So then, again, we who are Biblical Unitarian Christians, we believe that the word “God” is a TITLE just like the word “Lord” is a title and the word “King” is a title.
And a “title” is a NAME that is given to describe a position of rulership.
For example, a “Prince” is a name given to a person who is in line to be APPOINTED as the King to take the PLACE of the one who is presently the king.
Plus, a King can appoint other kings to be under himself to rule for him in his name.
So then, there can be more than just one King, who are under and subject to their King.
And in the same way, there can be more than one being who is called God by TITLE.
In other words, Almighty God the Creator can APPOINT whosoever He desires to become an “Elohim” who is under and subject to Him.
Therefore, Biblical Unitarian Christians believe that the HUMAN Son of God was HIGHLY EXALTED by his God and Father to BECOME a deity to rule for Yahweh, in the name of Yahweh for 1000 years during the world to come.
And thus, Biblical Unitarian Christians believe the LITERAL translation of John 1:1 as being a more correct translation of the Bible.
With that being said, let us now take a closer look at the Greek word “pros”, which is incorrectly translated as “the Word of WITH God” in the King James Version.
In other words, a more correct translation is the LITERAL translation that says, “and the SAYING was TOWARD the God”.
Here is how the concordance in E-Sword defines the Greek word “pros”.

A strengthened form of G4253; a preposition of direction; forward to, that is, toward (with the genitive case the side of, that is, pertaining to; with the dative case by the side of, that is, near to; usually with the accusative case the place, time, occasion, or respect, which is the destination of the relation, that is, whither or for which it is predicated): - about, according to, against, among, at, because of, before, between, ([where-]) by, for, X at thy house, in, for intent, nigh unto, of, which pertain to, that, to (the end that), + together, to ([you]) -ward, unto, with (-in). In compounds it denotes essentially the same applications, namely, motion towards, accession to, or nearness at.
Total KJV occurrences: 695.
The meaning of the word ACCESSION means the attainment or acquisition of a position of rank or power, typically that of monarch or president: “the Queen's accession to the throne”.
Therefore, the Greek word “logos” that is wrongly translated as “the Word” with a capital “W”, instead of a lowercase “w” like it is the other 218 times in the KJV.
In other words, the Greek word “logos” is translated as the Word 7 times, whereas it is translated as the word 218 times and as the SAYING 50 times in the KJV.
So, to me, the translators of the King James Version have BIASEDLY translated the Greek word “logos” as the Word with a capital “W” in order to try to force the “logos” to appear to be a separate Divine person, who was supposedly WITH Almighty God the Father in the eternity past.
However, that Trinitarian understanding of John 1:1 does not fit in with the FULFILLMENT of the PROPHECIES in the Old Testament.
So, I implore all Christians to TRULY consider the following passages of Scripture that CLEARLY teach us that it was the HUMAN Son of God who RECEIVED power and authority to ascend up into heaven to be seated upon the throne of God at His right-hand side.
And that is exactly what John 1:1 is ACTUALLY saying when it is interpreted CORRECTLY.
In other words, truly consider John 1:1 as being PROPHECY, and the PROPHECY was saying that something was headed in the direction TOWARD being beside the Almighty God. and that something is gods in the PLURAL.
Yes, the Greek word “theos” also means gods in the PLURAL.
And Jesus assures us in John 17:22-26 that the SAME GLORY that God GAVE to him, Jesus has promised to give to us who endure unto the end to be saved.
Again, please truly consider the following passages of Scripture.
Acts 7:56.
“And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing (Or APPOINTED to be) on the right hand of God.”
Does that sound familiar?
Compare this verse with John 1:1, and the SAYING was TOWARD the God, and a God was the SAYING.
Acts 17:31.
“Because He has appointed a day, in which He will judge the world in righteousness by that MAN whom He has ordained;” (Or who He has APPOINTED) whereof He has given assurance unto all men, in that He has raised him from the dead.”
Psalm 82:5-8.
“They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.
Psalm 82:6. I have said, (Or I, Yahweh, have prophesied) You are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
Psalm 82:7. But you shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.
Psalm 82:8. Arise, O God, (Or arise from the dead O God and also gods in the PLURAL to) judge the earth: for you shall INHERIT all nations.”
In other words, we who believe in Jesus as our Lord and Savior are JOINT-HEIRS with Jesus, according to Romans 8:17, which is another verse of Scripture that could be more correctly translated.
But that is for another study, for now, please consider that according to Psalm 8:1-6, the reason that God made MAN and the Son of MAN was to STILL his enemies, as in, to shut the mouth of His enemies of blaspheming and defaming His NAME.
Considered the fact that we were made INFERIOR to the angels, but yet we will JUDGE than angels or the Elohim, according to Psalm 8:5 and 1 Corinthians 6:2,3.
1 Corinthians 6:2.
“Do you not know that the saints shall JUDGE the world? And if the world shall be JUDGED by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
1 Corinthians 6:3. Know you not that we shall JUDGE angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?”
As far as I can see, it is only the FALLEN angels who will be JUDGED.
And the Hebrew word in Psalm 8:5 that is translated as “angels” in the Hebrew word Elohim, which also means gods.
So, as you can see in just this SHORT study, there is a ton of sound Biblical evidence that supports the Biblical Unitarian understanding of John 1:1 as being a PROPHECY of the HUMAN Son of God BECOME a DEITY under and subject to his God and CREATOR, who MADE him a little lower than the Elohim first.
And then, after the cross and resurrection, the God of Jesus HIGHLY EXALTED him to be MADE a Lord, a King, and a God to rule for Yahweh over the whole earth for 1000 years.
And God is doing this so that He can JUDGE the world by the MAN who He ORDAINED and raised from the DEAD, according to Acts 17:22-31.
Here is Psalm 82:8 again.
“Arise, O God, (Or arise from the dead O God and also gods in the PLURAL to) judge the earth: for you shall INHERIT all nations.”

And look for my future study on Romans 8:17, theou G2316, could this form of the Greek word “theos” mean god or gods, as in, becoming a god is what we inherit together with Jesus.
It is translated as heirs OF God, but the KJV does not translate the Greek word “men” which means INDEED, as in, heirs INDEED theou, and joint-heirs with Jesus, being GLORIFIED together with Jesus or with the SAME glory that God gave Jesus, according to John 17:22-26.
