Jesus Will Give Us the SAME Glory That God Gave to Him!
***What Does John 17:6-26 TRULY mean?
Here is John 17:22 from the KJV. “And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:”
Now, John 17:1-4 CLEARLY teaches that the Father ALONE is the only TRUTHFUL God.
And in verse 2, we can clearly see that Jesus RECEIVE all power and authority FROM Almighty God the Father.

We Will be Given the SAME GLORY That God GAVE Jesus!
In this verse-by-verse study on John 17:6-26, I will place my comments between each verse of Scripture.
But in some verses, I will have a FEW comments within the verse itself.
Also, I will highlight all of the words that refer to the Father in orange.
I will highlight all to words referring to Jesus is yellow.
And I will use light blue to show more emphasis.

John 17:6-26.
“John 17:6. I have manifested Your NAME unto the men, which You GAVE me out of the world: they were Yours, and You GAVE them to me; and they have kept Your word.
The Greek word translated as “manifested” mean to render apparent, which means to make it CLEAR Your NAME.
The the word NAME means Yahweh’s CHARACTER and Yahweh’s AUTHORITY.
In other words, Jesus is talking to his God and Father saying, “I have made Your CHARACTER and Your AUTHORITY perfectly CLEAR to the disciples that You GAVE to me to teach.
I have called them my disciples, but I know that they belong to You and then you entrusted them to me.
And they have kept YOUR word.
John 17:7. Now they have known that all things whatsoever You have GIVEN me are of YOU.
And now, my disciples have come to know that the works I do are being done by You who DWELL in me.
They understand that all the GLORY belongs to You heavenly Father.
John 17:8. For I have given unto them the words which You GAVE me; and they have received them, and have known SURELY that I came out from You, and they have believed that You did SEND me.
The Greek word “apostellō” that is translated as “SEND” means to send out, to send forth and to SET.
It literally means to COMMISSION, which means to SET in a place of AUTHORITY.
In other words, commission means to give power and authority to someone in order for them to accomplish the task given to them.
Thus, a police “Commissioner” COMMISSIONS his police offers to do the job that they are trained to do.
Also, further on in this same passage of Scripture in verse 18, Jesus tells us that he SENT his disciples into the world in the SAME WAY that God SENT him into the world.
Now, to me, a more correct translation and understanding of John 17:8 is as follows.
“For I have given unto them the words which You GAVE me; and they have received them, and have known SURELY that I COME to be BESIDE You, and they have believed that You did SET me (at Your right hand).”
For you see, this in exactly what is PROPHESIED in the Scriptures, and this is exactly what the Apostles of Jesus have written down on the New Testament in many places, such as Matthew 20:23, Matthew 22:44, Luke 22:69, Acts 2:34, and Hebrew 1:13, plus many other passages of Scripture like Hebrews 12:2.
John 17:9. I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which You have GIVEN me; for they are Yours.
Notice that everything that Jesus has, it was GIVEN to him from his God and Father.
John 17:10. And all mine are Yours, and Yours are mine; and I am glorified in them.
In the original Greek text there is the definite article “the” before the word “all”.
And to me, the word “ALL” that belong to Jesus is speaking of all of the SAINTS.
And it was Yahweh, the Father’s good PLEASURE pf His will for us to be His ADOPTED children, according to Ephesians 1:4-9.
And Jesus is saying YOU are glorified in them, as opposed to be translated as I am glorified in them.
John 17:11. And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I COME to You. Holy Father, keep through Your own NAME (Or keep those who are showing Your own CHARACTER) those whom You have GIVEN me, that they may be ONE, as we are (ONE).
Remember that the meaning of the word NAME also means CHARACTER.
And Jesus teaches us to be Holy even and our Father in heaven is Holy.
Jesus also said to be perfect even as our Father is perfect.
Notice again, that Jesus is going to the Father or COMING to the Father.
And in the LIGHT of the rest of God’s word, Jesus understood through the Scriptures that he was going to be GLORIFIED to be SET or SEATED at the right-hand side of Almighty God.
So, to me, Jesus being ONE with his God and Father means to be ONE in agreement.
In other words, Jesus is ONE in agreement to OBEY the WILL of His God and Father and to rule in RIGHTEOUSNESS the SAME as Almighty God RULES.
Also, we see that we who BELIEVE and are found worthy shall be made ONE in the SAME WAY that Jesus and the Father have been made ONE.
John 17:12. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your NAME: (Or I CORRECTED them when they were not of the RIGHT spirit) those that You GAVE me, (Or those You have entrusted to me to disciple) I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the Scripture might be fulfilled.
Here we see the Judas Iscariot was indeed LOST and not found in the CHARACTER of Almighty God.
Now, I believe that since Jesus CHOSE the first twelve disciples, then Jesus CHOSE Paul to be the TWELFTH Apostle who will sit on one of the twelve thrones to judge the twelve tribes of Israel, according to Matthew 19:28.
John 17:13. And now I COME to You; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
Again, the Son of MAN was HIGHLY EXALTED to be made Lord to rule FOR Yahweh in the NAME of Yahweh for 1000 years UNTIL Almighty God the Father puts all of his enemies under his feet.
And thus, I do NOT believe that John 17:5 is CORRECTLY translated.
For you see, the way in which John 17:5 is “translated”, it MISLEADS Christians to wrongly believe that a Divine Eternal God the Son is RETURNING back to his RIGHTFUL place of GLORY at the right-hand of Almighty God the Father.
But if that understanding is the correct understanding, the why will the Son COMMIT the kingdom back into his God and Father’s hands at the END of the 1000-year reign of Jesus, according to 1 Corinthians 15:20-28?
The TRUE sound Biblical understanding is that God promised His HUMAN Son that he would RECEIVE GLORY, honor and POWER if he ENDURE the cross, according to Hebrews 12:2.
And Revelation 5:12 teaches us the Lamb who was SLAIN was found WORTHY to RECEIVE glory, honor and POWER, riches, and blessings.
So, to me, the Bible ITSELF does NOT teach that a so-called pre-existing God the Son RETURNED back to heaven.
John 17:14. I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them, because they are NOT of the world, EVEN as I am NOT of the world.
So then, when Jesus said in John 8:23 that he is from ABOVE and NOT of this world, he did not INTEND his words to mean that he pre-existed up in heaven and came down to the earth to be made flesh.
But rather, he meant that those Jews were of their father the Devil who is from BENEATH.
Jesus being from above simply means that he was BORN-AGAIN at his baptism to receive the INDWELLING of the Holy Spirit.
For you see, it is WHEN we are born-again that we are no longer of this WORLD.
John 17:15. I pray not that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil.
The literal translation says that You shall keep them from that wicked one.
In other words, the You lead them AWAY from the evil one so that they are not tempted.
John 17:16. They (Speaking of the disciples of Jesus and all believers in Jesus) are NOT OF the world, EVEN AS (Or in the SAME WAY AS) I am NOT OF the world.
Now, the Mormons teach that ALL humans pre-existed as “spirit” children of God up in heaven.
However, that is NOT what the Bible ITSELF teaches. Therefore, the phrase “Jesus is NOT of this world” does NOT DOGMATICALLY DEMAND that it means that the SON of God was BORN up in HEAVEN in eternity past BEFORE as some Christians WRONGLY teach.
They argue that the SON was born into existence in the eternity past and then God SENT down His pre-existing Son ONTO the EARTH to be BORN of a woman under the law.
And THEN God SENT FORTH His Son OUT INTO the world to preach the gospel.
But again, let me remind you that Jesus said the WE are NOT OF the world in the SAME WAY that Jesus is NOT OF this world.
Jesus also said in John 17:18 that in the SAME way that God SENT him, so also Jesus SENT his disciples into the world.
So then, this phrase of not being of this world simply means that we are BORN of God from ABOVE, and that we follow and obey the voice from ABOVE.
It means that we do not partake of the sinful things OF this world.
It means that we as Christians are BORN from ABOVE by the word of the eternal Holy Spirit who DWELT in Jesus, the SON OF Almighty God, and now the SAME Holy Spirit dwells in us who believe.
John 17:17. Sanctify them through Your truth: Your word is truth.
Notice that the Scriptures are Yahweh the Father’s word of truth.\
God prophesied in Deuteronomy 18:15-19 that He would raise up a Prophet FROM AMONG the people, who would be like Moses.
And in that prophecy, God said that He would put His words into the mouth of that Prophet.
John 17:18. AS You have SENT me INTO the world, EVEN SO (Or in the SAME WAY the Yo Father have SENT me into the world.
Again, the Greek word “apostellō” that is translated as SENT literally means to COMMISSION, which means to give power and authority to one to accomplish the task that one is given to do.
And God CALLED Jesus into righteousness and ANOINTED him with the Holy Spirit and POWER, according to Acts 10:38.
And, according to Luke 24:49, Jesus told his disciples to tarry or wait in Jerusalem UNTIL they were ENDUED with POWER from on high.
So, God anointed Jesus at his baptism before He sent him into the world, and Jesus said in the SAME way) I have ALSO SENT them INTO the world.
Can you not see my dear brothers and sisters in our Lord Jesus Christ, that this phrase “SENT INTO the world” does NOT DOGMATICALLY DEMAND that it means being SENT down from heaven ONTO the EARTH.
But rather, this phrase simply means being SENT OUT INTO the world. In the fullness of the time, Jesus was sent out into the world to preach the gospel.
John 17:19. And for their sake, I sanctify myself, (Or I separate myself from worldly things to not give into sin) that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
According to Hebrews 9:14, Jesus lived without sin through the POWER of the Eternal Spirit dwelling in him.
Also, Jesus knew that the prophecies in the Scripture testify of him.
And thus, Jesus knew that God chose him to bear the punishment FOR our iniquities, according to Psalm 51:4,5 and Isaiah chapter 53.

John 17:20. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them ALSO which SHALL believe on me through their word;
In other words, Jesus prayed this prayer for ALL Christians in every generation.
John 17:21. That they ALL may be ONE; AS YOU, Father, are in me, and I in You, that they ALSO may be ONE in us: that the world may believe that You have SENT me.
Jesus being ONE with the Father does NOT DOGMATICALLY DEMAND that Jesus is THE ONE TRUE and ONLY ALMIGHTY God as some FALSELY teach.
But rather, being ONE with the Father simply means that they AGREE as ONE.
Their WILLS have merged to be UNITED in AGREEMENT for the SAME purpose.
John 17:22. And the glory which You GAVE me I have given them; that they may be ONE, EVEN AS (Or in the SAME WAY as) we are ONE:
Again, we who believe in Jesus as our Lord and Savior will be made ONE with the Father even as or in the SAME WAY that Jesus is ONE with the Father.
Therefore, Jesus being ONE with the Father does not make Jesus to be Almighty God Himself in the flesh as some Christians CLAIM.
John 17:23. I in them, and You in me, that they may be made perfect in ONE; and that the world may know that thou have sent (Or COMMISSIONED) me, and have loved them, as You have loved me.
I have said this many times before in other studies, but I feel that I need to say it again.
Jesus was anointed TWICE! The first anointing was a PARTIAL anointing at his baptism.
In other words, Jesus was given an ERNEST of the Holy Spirit in the same way that we are given and EARNEST of the Spirit when we are BORN-AGAIN by the word of Almighty God, according to 2 Corinthians 1:21,22, 2 Corinthians 5:5, and Ephesians 1:3-14.
And then AFTER the cross and resurrection, God ANOINTED Jesus with the FULLNESS of Deity to be MADE a Lord, a King, and a God over the whole earth during the world to come.
Please read the following studies which will give you many more Scriptures PROVING that Jesus BECAME Deity AFTER the cross and resurrection.
John 17:24. Father, I will that they also, whom You have GIVEN me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which You have GIVEN me: for You loved me before the foundation of the world.
We are JOINT-HEIRS WITH Jesus, according to Romans 8:17.
We will RULE and reign WITH Jesus for 1000 years, according to Revelation 20:6, and 2 Timothy 2:12.
We will receive the SAME GLORY that God gave to Jesus, according to John 17:22.
And, according to Psalm 149:4-7, God has given the honor to ALL of the saints to execute His vengeance and wrath with Jesus.
So, Jesus wants us to KNOW and understand that God LOVES us with the SAME LOVE that He loves Jesus.
John 17:25. O righteous Father, the world has not known You: but I have known You, and these have known that You have SENT (Or COMMISSIONED) me.
Again, the early disciples KNEW the TRUE Jesus and how God made him a little LOWER of inferior to the angels DURING the days of his FLESH.
And then, AFTER the cross and resurrection, God CROWNED His Human Son with GLORY and honor to RECEIVE POWER and all authority, according to Hebrews 2:5-10, Matthew 28:18, John 17:2, and Romans 1:4, plus many other Scriptures such ad Revelation 5:11.
John 17:26. And I have declared unto them Your NAME, (Or CHARACTER of being the only TRUTHFUL God) and will declare it: that the love wherewith You have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”

So then, in the LIGHT of the CONTEXT in John 17:1-4 and John 17:6-26, it is clear to me that the GLORY Jesus HAD before the world was, is speaking of the glory PROPHESIED in the Scriptures.
In other words, before this AGE of this present world, God devised a PLAN of salvation.
And in God’s PLAN of salvation was the EXPECTED END to give His ELECT His GLORY.

And after you understand that the REASON that Yahweh did that is to STILL His ENEMIES, Satan and the fallen angels.
Then you can understand that God made His human Son to become “a” Lord, “a” King, and “a” God, under and subject to his God and Father in order to JUDGE Satan and the fallen angels.
