A quick setup process that allows employers to register on Handshake, create a profile, and gain access to post jobs, internships, and events while connecting directly with students and campus talent.
Part 1: Signing Up for Free
Start the Registration: Visit the Handshake registration page (or click the Sign-up button on the Handshake Help Center page). Start Registration
Enter Your Details: Fill out the required fields on the "Sign up for free" page:
First name
Last name
Work email * Create a password
Create Account: Check the box to agree to the Handshake Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then click the Create account button
Part 2: Email Verification
4. Verify Your Email: After submitting the form, Handshake will send a confirmation email to the work email address you provided. You will see a "Verify your email! Check your inbox." message.
5. Open the Confirmation Email: Check your inbox (and possibly your spam folder) for the email from Handshake. The subject will be something like "Confirm your email address on Handshake."
6. Confirm: Click the Confirm email button within the email to verify your account and continue the registration process.
Part 3: Completing Your Profile
7. Complete Your Profile: You will be taken to a page titled "Complete your profile." Fill out the following information:
User profile photo (optional)
Job title
Types of candidates you're looking for
Phone number
Education history (optional: School name and Graduation year)
8. Third-Party Recruiter: Answer the question: "Are you a third-party recruiter working on behalf of another company?" with Yes or No.
9. Continue: Click the Continue button to move to the next step.
Part 4: Joining or Creating a Company
10. Choose Your Company: Handshake will try to identify your company based on your email domain.
If your company is listed (e.g., Adams State University), click the Request to join button. * If your company is not listed, you will need to choose the option to create a new company profile.
11. Review Pending Status: Once you request to join, your request will be placed under review by the company's existing staff. A screen will confirm, "Your request to join [Company Name] is under review." You will receive an email confirmation that your request has been sent.
12. Wait for Approval: Handshake will send you an email notification as soon as your request is approved.
You now have a Handshake employer account and your request to join your organization is pending!
