Contractor: John Caiola & Co, Inc - 518-794-9158

Family business, honest. John will give you a real estimate, tell you how it is, and give you options. We have worked with him since the first house we bought back in 2003 and have always been happy with his work. He works with a small crew, but they are reliable, kind, and professional...and will help you carry 180 lb. floor scraper from your car to the kitchen if you can't. Highly recommend.

Tree Removal: Cassidy Tree Service - 518-892-3232

Do you recall my posts about these guys (A tree by any other name)? They are amazing. Professional, resourceful, and Cassidy will give you an honest price for the work. He will also work with you - we wanted to keep some of the mulch, but not all of it. We also wanted a cross section of a tree for a mantle and he did that for us, as well. His crew runs a tight ship and they do an amazing job of removing every last bit of tree! Highly recommend.

Electrician: McCauley Electrical - 518-858-2608

Chris McCauley is professional, detail oriented, and goes the extra mile. We were beyond pleased with his work on the house (updating the box, getting rid of old wires, making everything safe, AND running line out to the pond and setting up electric so we could aerate the water (fancy way of saying we're put in a fountain). He comes with a partner and they work efficiently and with a smile - bonus! Highly recommend.

Stump Removal: Stump Busters - 518-231-6011

This guy's equipment is serious business. He can grind the biggest stumps down to nothing in a matter of an hour - depending on the size of the stump. I guess his prices are decent, I really don't have a comparison, but he comes out pretty quick, and within an hour your giant stump is a pile of mulch, so there's that.

Paving: Michael Luizzi Paving and Contracting Corp - 518-869-5303

These guys were incredible. They came out with a huge crew, worked as a team, and paved our driveway like the pros that they are. They were accommodating to the finer details of our project, kind to Finn's endless questions, and the price was right. Highly recommend.

Well Services: - Smith Well Drilling - 518-758-6142

We chose Smith because they dug the well for the previous owners. Turns out they are wonderful. Their office person is super nice and the guys she sent out to get the system back up and running was really nice and thorough. Really nice people to work with. We haven't done a ton of work with them, but from the little we have so far (and the experiences I've had with other well companies), I'd go with these guys.

Roofing: Phelps Brothers Roofing - 518-479-4362

This crew got the job done quickly and it looks beautiful. If you are dealing with an FHA construction loan, they are a breeze to work with as they know the deal. Maybe not the most professional crew, but they got the job done. In time I will update on the job of the roof. It looks good and no leaks so far.

Woodstove and Chimney: Matchless Stove and Chimney - 518-992-7573

These guys have offices in Glenmont and Clifton Park, we've listed the Glenmont number because that is who we worked with. They were really great. Came out and did a really nice job in one morning. Thorough, courteous, and professional - exactly what we like in the people we hire.

Realtor: Berkshire Hathaway - Lenny Brown and Sharon McArdle

Lenny and Sharon are a great team and pay lots of attention to detail. They work with you and really care about you. They are not in this for "the bottom line."

Child Distractions: Flying Deer Nature Center

Possibly one of the greatest child care alternatives in our area. Nature based, nature immersive - nature all day long, rain or shine. My children come home dirty and filled with stories and adventures. Highly, highly, highly recommend.
