It's harder than you think to go this long between postings for two reasons. First, it was such a joy to post all summer long and engage with people about the trials and tribulations of renovating this ole Firkin. That said, things ARE getting done. I dug my heels in and started to scrub the shower in the boys' bathroom - ew. And the sheetrock guys have been here doing all sorts of magic. I'll start with the bathroom.

Last Friday I started with two more coats of Kilz primer on the walls of the boys' bathroom.
It's hard to tell, but there are two coats of very expensive, Benjamin Moore "Vintage Taupe" on these walls.
This here shower had not been washed in over 6 years. I can only imagine what THAT ick is.
Suffice to say, my arms were jello after round 1.
Here's a funny story. Back in the summer when we were trying to sort out the water issues, our contractor had to knock out some tiles and move the shower head from the exterior wall to the other side. Bill and I both assumed the shower tiles were white and just looked nasty...so we bought plain old white tiles for our contractor to use when he patched up the holes. Well...when I scrubbed the shower with bleach...turns out the tiles are not white. Guess we are going to have to live with this one. For now. Ugh. Not the worst snafoo in the world, but seriously, if you saw that shower....who knew they were off-white???

On to the master bedroom where a team of professional sheetrock guys have been doing amazing things. They have also been touching up walls in the bathroom, kitchen, and the hall of horrors (stairwell from first to second floor).
