Heat waves are horrible, BUT, I've pulled a muscle in one of my shoulders from all that repetitive scrubbing, so a two day break is just what my shoulder ordered...way to see the silver lining - right?

Our guys tried really hard to isolate the leaks...

But it just rained harder in the kitchen. The solution is to tear up the floor upstairs to hopefully find answers and SEAL THEM.

And despite today being mostly bad news after bad news, it turns out that we don't have to replace our hot water tank. (Yay! Those are expensive.)

My new kitchen sink faucet was installed - there isn't any water going to it and if there were the water would run right out onto the kitchen floor...but, there it is, in all it's new Kohler glory. Sleek and pretty and ready to wash cupcake pans and Bill's baby back rib dishes.

And that destroyed bathroom? We didn't love those floor tiles anyway. Was it in our budget to replace them during this phase? Not exactly...but, hey, we will make it work, because shades of gray - we are living in shades of gray - like this lovely sink.

Here's a funny - what is this white corner you are showing us? Could it be one of the ceilings you achingly scrubbed clean? INTERESTINGLY - NO. This is the ceiling in one of the grosser bathrooms. Toilet stained brown, shower scummy as all get out, mouse carcass in the corner, paint peeling all over the floor, BUT - not a lick of mold on the entire surface area of the ceiling. Is it irony or a cruel joke that this is the very same bathroom that is the source of ALL THE LEAKS that are RAINING into my KITCHEN?????????

Today I leave you with this beautiful barn. We don't know what we are going to do with it yet. It's a bit unsafe, rotten floors inside...but otherwise kind of structurally sound. Either way, we love it. What was this barn used for 150 years ago? Was is just for supplies or were animals housed in here? Do you think a kiss was ever stolen inside there? Did a farmer build it with his son? His neighbors? Did the wives help? Did they make sandwiches and bring lemonade (I know it's a new era, but I would have happily done either - hammered nails OR made sandwiches). Who put on the last coat of paint? I have so many questions when I look at this barn. Maybe one day you will swing by, take a walk around, and come up with some of your own....this property has a dreamy quality about it.
