It's hard to believe, but after three long months, we have finally moved into the Butter Firkin!!! There is still so much to do, but we are out of my mom's house and in our own space. It's amazing and overwhelming all at once...sort of like everything that is Firkin related.

First off, we would never have gotten so much done without the help of so many wonderful people. Val, Emily, and Mikale - we would not have slept in the house on Saturday if it had not been for you guys. Then, Liam called in his peeps - Jake and Mateo - these three teenagers used their energy for the good of the Firkin, and I am forever grateful. I wish I could have given them more than pizza...but, I am sure there will be many, many good times to be had thanks to their efforts. Finn was, once again, wisked away by friends so we could get the house looking good. I am so grateful for the friends we have.

The kitchen is coming together. Finn requested spaghetti and sauce for the first official family dinner.

Slowly, but surely, we are getting there. I still have to paint all the cabinet doors. Sigh.

This is kinda funny. At dinner tonight we noticed that the shadows of the dining room light fixture are HUGE. Larger than life, huge. It gave us a good giggle. For those of you who have been to our old house and know of the mason jar light fixture, we will be putting that one up...once we find our socks and sort out things like that.

The living room is looking very nice...although Finn has already blown through and I hate our old rug. I was hoping it would have somehow disintegrated in the pod...but alas..it didn't.

Until the master bedroom is remodeled, Bill and I will be residing in the guest room. It it, by far, one of my favorite rooms in the house, so I am quite happy here (even if we have paper blinds on the window - we have paper blinds on nearly all the windows at the moment..).

We had pancakes for breakfast. I am happy with the kitchen. It's does not have an open design and it's not huge, but it's warm and it works. What more does a person really need? People to feed and laugh with - so I look forward to that.

And what move-in weekend isn't complete without a 20 foot race track set up down the stairs? To be completely honest, despite the picture-perfect-pictures, Finn still is not 100% sold on the Butter Firkin. He goes back and forth. He likes the shower. He enjoyed these steps for his race track and the basketball set up outside is pretty decent. (Apparently the trampoline was "Liam's idea" - so hmph - can you believe this kid???) But, anxiety is a real and tricky beast, so I am doing my best to navigate mindfully. He still misses the old house and hopefully, the more happy memories we make here at the Firkin, the more he will come to love the painfully blue room I made for him.
