When the sun shines...

WORK gets done.

Our contractor is cracking away at the foundation and all the myriad holes the Butter Firkin has bestowed upon us. Lots of things are getting done so I can move our tooshes in.

I'm sad to report that this window no longer exists in the Adirondack room. It was so rotten, as was all the wood around it...and the fortune we spent on replacing so many other windows, the best thing was to just close this one.

Now it's sealed up. Don't worry. We've ordered a door that's half glass - so we make up for the light and the room is retaining so much of it's charm. Promise.

Look at how "buttoned up" it's getting. That's a popular term around here. I sure hope the insurance company notices.

Speaking of the insurance company - I noticed a line in the cancellation notice about "moss on the garage." So I had the boys "get 'er done."

Liam earning his keep...or his trip to Europe with the travel club in April 2020 (is how I see it..., just being real - but he works hard, and I am grateful for such a hard working son).

In classic Firkin fashion - my car windows were open during this power-washing...and now I have a swamp car covered with and somewhat filled with moss. Sigh... Another thing to clean.

Speaking of hardworking...we couldn't reach the ceiling of the mud room until our friend Bill L. loaned us his tall ladder. Then my Bill was a little nervous about us bigger, older folks climbing up there, so we sent the young 'un up there. He did great and the room is just about ready for my new washer and dryer...YES, PLEASE!

Bill bought me this mermaid for our 18th wedding anniversary this summer. I found the cool kraken wood block in my favorite place, Charlestown, RI. Together they make the perfect decorations for my mud/laundry room. I can't wait for them to watch over my endless baskets of clothes.....

I spent the day working on those darn cabinet doors. I'm nearly done...with PRIMING. After watching some DIY videos I've decided to rent a sprayer for the final coat - seems like it will give it a more professional look, not to mention cut the time in at least HALF (pretty please). I counted 34 DOORS...didn't even count the shelves...sigh....

But who's complaining? Not me. They are mine. I get to put my stuff on them. Some people don't have shelves...or only have four or five. In a week or so I will have....a whole bunch...that math is beyond me (and NO, you can't divide by 2 because some are single, so there). Oy, who's hangry? Need to find those donuts...

Here's hoping for more sun tomorrow.
