Today turned out to be a real treat and the total opposite of yesterday. I had not one, but TWO visitors today AND the baseboards are finally being installed. I felt like life was really throwing me a bone and the scale was doing a bit of a balance. The number 13 has always been lucky for me, so I guess it was only appropriate.

First my friend Tom stopped by - if you are student at New Lebanon you know him as Mr. Laier...or Tom. He came by with all sorts of gifts and he showed me some painting tips that will go a long way as I have SO much more to paint.

For those of you reading since the beginning, I have said to stop by - I mean it. I'm embarrassed to say I nearly shed tears when Tom came by (I don't think he knows that). It gets a little lonely...and maddening painting and sanding and sweeping and painting and sanding and painting...oh, did I say that already? Really, I won't make you work. It's nice to get a break and say hi. If you're in the neighborhood, say hi. STAY FOR A NIGHTCAP! (Only fans of the 90's classic "So I married an ax murderer," starring Mike Myers will get that reference.)

My second visitors were my friend Connie and her daughter Bea. Connie and I met when we were teachers (right out of undergrad 8 million years ago) in North Carolina. Long story short, her adventures brought her in the neighborhood today - with - drum roll please - a huge bag of SHEETS!!!! This means I can set up TWO rooms at a time, so while one room is drying and waiting for it's second coat, I can start another room...YES! She also brought this wonderful house warming present!!! It also had those lovely mugs at the top of the page. It was so nice to stop painting for bagels and a chat with an old friend. Thanks so much, Connie and Bea!!

With all the visitors, including two estimates on mini splits, I didn't get a ton done today. Ceiling and second coat in the dining room are done. Some spackling in the kitchen....I need to bake a cake for Finn's birthday so...

When I started writing this post it was going to end with - the following two pictures. Connie's housewarming present included some delightful beverages which Bill and I enjoyed on the deck, before I went home to cook dinner, and he left for a meeting.

But, if you are on Facebook, you know my day really ended with my 9 year old attempting to hitchhike his way out of our lives because I asked him to put his kindle away. The cherry on top was his final breakdown where he admitted that he is "financially unstable."
