If you are a parent or grandparent of a child under the age of 10 or 12 there's a really good chance you have seen one of the Lego movies and are familiar with this reference. If you are one of the unfortunate few who are not familiar you can Google "Honey, where's my pants" and watch the 10 second clip from the movie - in my opinion it's worth it. It's 100% nonsensical in the movie and makes 100% sense in my life right now.

No matter how hard Bill and I try to keep our room...tidy, the tsunami of clothes in the corner destroys our peace of mind. No matter how we try to keep the front hall...tidy, the endless traffic of contractors and boys and leaves and dogs destroys all efforts. No matter how hard I try to keep my or Bill's pants in a place I will be able to locate when we need them...alas...they end up...somewhere in the vastness that is the current state of the Butter Firkin.

Getting gutters up on the Butter Firkin was a two day job.
This is the new propane heater added to the laundry/mud room. I turned up the dial for dramatic effect. We usually have it set to 1 and there's hardly any flame at all. Also, there's a glass pane, so no flames are actually going to be in contact with...well...anything like my kids or dog or laundry.

It's super efficient and gives off a lot of heat. I am no longer worried about my pipes freezing in this room. Kudos to Morse heating for this little wonder.

The boys' bathroom got tiled today!!! I know, right??? We may actually have a second bathroom by the end of the week!! I'm trying desperately not to get too excited. We actually have ALL the fixins' for this room, vanity, toilet, mirror...they've been sitting in the hallway since the summer. We thought we might actually tile this floor...and then we did the kitchen floor and thought better of it. Let's just say Bill picked up a couple of extra shifts so that we did not have to learn how to use a wet saw...and for that...I am SO SO grateful. I will happily keep on painting...

Not pictured (because I could not walk on the tiles) is the newly tiled shower. It had been ripped to shreds - ish so the pipes could be fixed.

This is the ginormous hole that was behind the master shower. Previously there were about a dozen leaks here...now, PEX pipes! That work! (Sources say...)

This is the master closet - covered in plastic. Much of the master is - in preparation for the "sheet rock guy." He's a sheet rock and plaster guru of sorts and he's going to TOWN on the Firkin. Can't wait.

We had two cords of firewood dropped off on Saturday...and apparently it's going to rain on Thursday. We've got some work to do. Finn isn't so thrilled. He really just wants to jump on the trampoline...I mean...who wouldn't? I want to jump on the trampoline. But, Liam, Bill, and I are busy attacking the pile and attempting to get it stacked in the old barn (or corn crib, as it were) before the wood gets totally soaked. Nothing like a little family bonding time over fire wood.

To be fair, it was actually Liam who hit me with a flying log, not Bill. But who can get mad when he's working so hard? Obviously not me.

Finally, while we did not have our big pumpkin party this year, we did have a few friends over and we did carve some pumpkins. This is Liam's. It was so nice to show off the hard work we've put in so far and talk about the upcoming plans. Both boys had some friends sleep over, and albeit exhausting, I loved having the Firkin full to bursting. I love, love, loved it and I can't wait to have more people over eating and laughing and sitting and looking out over the pond and into the night and trees. I could get used to that.
