And so today went like so many other days will go - wake up, clean, take a break, clean, repeat. Highlights below:
Bill got me a BUTTER FIRKIN!
It was made by this company out of Boston. Pretty cool.
I'm still on the lookout for a local one.
The Dishwasher Disaster...
With new appliances being delivered next week, we decided to tackle the kitchen today. The dishwasher proved to be a real jerk.
I don't know if you can tell, but the floor is all rotten - everything is rotten and Bill nearly died because he forgot we had electricity and, well, you can guess how that went. Luckily, he survived, the rubber handled pliers, not so much.
After we turned off the power, Bill remembered I bought him a Sawzall for Father's Day. Things went much better after that, not for the dishwasher, though.
Sadly, after removing all the appliances, it was clear that we are going to have to cancel the actual installations. The delivery is on, so I will have a kitchen full of shiny, new appliances, literally in the center of the dining room...but the electrical and plumbing are too messed up for us to expect the delivery guys from Home Depot to be able to navigate that situation. For now we can just plug in the refrigerator. Everything else will have to wait until our plumber and electrician work out all the funky nonsense that has happened...sigh...
I spent most of the day working on the dining room.
I did clean the bottom 3 stairs. I love these, don't you?
On one of our breaks we went out to the old foundation with Finn's metal detector.
We uncovered what appears to be the remains of a party (many bottles of beer from about 60 years ago) or a bag of trash. Either way Finn was beside himself with this archaeological find!
Here is a riveting 7 second video of Finn's room at the moment. It's now ready for it's coat of Kilz. Lower your volume - the fans are on and they are loud.
