So for years we have wondered what this little building could be. It is located just 15 or so feet from the back door and deck. Chicken coop? Smoke house? Out house? Shed? It seems too close to be most of these things because of the smells that would come from it...there's no chimney, so smoke house really isn't logical...
So for years we have wondered what this little building could be. It is located just 15 or so feet from the back door and deck. Chicken coop? Smoke house? Out house? Shed? It seems too close to be most of these things because of the smells that would come from it...there's no chimney, so smoke house really isn't logical...
The answer would remain a mystery due to the plethora of fallen trees and debris blocking the door...until a few days ago when the trees were finally removed. And our mystery was solved.

Ta-da! Points to all of you who guessed outhouse. Thankfully the holes were filled in with soil. Someone suggested the seats might be "sell-able." It is pretty cool to have something that, historically, is not made any more. We pulled them out and as you can see...we are obviously going to turn them into a cool bean bag toss game - corn hole has never made more sense to me than now. I'm not joking, that's what we are going to do with the "seats."

As for the rest of the outhouse, it will most likely make it's way to the burn pile. There's a lovely raspberry patch to the right of it that I am going to try and salvage. I have a long history of killing raspberry bushes...so...we'll see how that goes.
