It wasn't too hard to imagine that the Firkin was going to look magical for the holidays...until we got inside. But now that the insides are getting better and better each day, the holidays are really beginning to feel magical.

The first Butter Firkin Thanksgiving was wonderful. The only thing missing was more family...but when your family is as big and mixed as mine, you take what you get when you can get it.

My heart is full. I am pretty easy to please, but sitting around a table, sharing a homemade meal, laughing and just being with each other really is at the top of my list of "best things in life."

And now, I really can't wait to get a tree and start the real decorating...assuming I can find our decorations. Also, a thing I am noticing, I won't have enough. This house is so big. #richpeopleproblems (except I'm not technically rich - not the money rich, I'm the other rich) . Moving on...

We need to mount the mirror and one day, far far in the future I'll paint the window trim. Also, I need to paint the shelves...always with the shelves.
Here we need just put a new plate over the light switches and put up the toilet paper holder. Oh, and paint the trim. I will be painting F-O-R-E-V-E-R.

This fancy Pottery Barn light is barely hanging on. We both nearly fell down the steep stairs trying to install it and Bill may or may not have been shocked...more than once. It is still in it's wrapper, not functional. -_-
This is what your awesome laundry room looks like when your brand new dryer decides to just stop working...on a holiday. Ugh.
And then I pulled a classic Britt. I invited my parents to come and stay with us next weekend. When I did this, December 7 seemed like eons away and I was sure we'd have a guest room and master bedroom all done and ready. Well, folks...for those of you who have been with me since the start...things don't move quite at the speed I imagine them to. Also...I really, really, really want them to come and see the Firkin. The silver lining to this is that it has lit a fire under my toosh and I am already done with Kilz coat #1 on the master bedroom. The goal is to have it done by the end of the weekend. Also, I am ready to use my master shower!! The hardware for the sink should be installed next week, so I'll be upstairs SOON!!

The thing about this bathroom, though...it has a low window right by the toilet that looks out onto the front yard, which is fairly close to the road. Now...we live on a quiet country road...but...and Bill tried to tell me that due to the angle of the roof, yada yada, you can't see in, even at night...well...I made him test that theory. See results below:

Clearly you can SEE him. The window is foggy because I was just scrubbing the tub.
